Edit a door into it; it's quick, and quieter than smashing. Plus your wall stays intact so you can nip back inside if you need to.

 

 

Editing doors and windows into walls isn't too hard, but most of the other stuff takes a lot of getting to grips with; I can edit the pyramid roof bit into a corner piece to manufacture my own DIY port-a-fort, in about half an hour, but the very thought of editing stairs gives me palpitations.

So started playing this when it came out on the switch. have had a 100% win rate on 50v50 but used it as an opportunity to get to know most of the basic weapons. Dived into solo, and thought I was doing pretty well as I've so far not gone under 20th...

 

Then I watched someone killed me.

 

What in the flying fuck is the skill ceiling to this game? It was like I was watching a completely different game with how far off the ground everyone ended up being. At one point it turned into bomberman as they locked their opponent in a box and chucked a grenade in.

 

Pretty good game, I can see why its so popular.

It's handy to protect yourself if you need to heal.  Also reviving someone, as it takes 10 seconds, it's useful to protect in a box also.  And yeah, as @Stanleysaid, for getting up high it's essential.

Im holding out for a gyro aiming update if it ever comes.  Gyro aiming should be a system level option, it's annoying that I have to wait until the developer includes it, if ever.

It instructs you to press the R stick - but it doesnt do anything - how do you select to add a window or door... or add banisters to ramps etc?

 

Pressing circle makes it editable, then select the squares you want to remove, bottom 3 and middle makes an arch, 1 bottom and 1 above makes a door, top 2 rows makes it so you can over, all good things to practice to be able to get around

The daily challenge is to get 5 AR kills. Does the burst AR count? One of the kids is sure they got one with an AR but it doesn’t seem to have turned up. 

 

Having them earn me XP is nice, but I wish I could play with them on my iPhone without having to log out and make a new account. 

 

Looks quite rough in docked mode but I was wrong about it being unplayable (patch might have helped).

This game is reminding me of Worms more than anything. Fun, but not quite 'I can understand why this is so popular' fun. There might be a level of depth like Worms I'm not seeing though, certainly.

 

Also don't understand what I'm gaining after matches, just exp? What does the levelling achieve, and so on.

Always build a roof when healing, you were a grenade away from death!

 

That wall you built is relatively hard to edit as it’s low, I would have built a ramp inside for cover and exit, handy guide for wall editing...

burst AR will count but, in team modes at least, it’s odd how it decides what weapon you killed someone with, for example if you down someone with an AR, and someone else finishes them off with a pistol, it’ll count as your pistol kill. I think thats right anyway.

Yeah I did. You and keep baby joined me but I don't have time for another game at the moment, unfortunately. 

 

Managed to get my 5 AR kills, though. 50vs50 is good for that type of challenge, I think. 

 

Hopefully tomorrow I'll get back on my Xbox and can buy a battlepass. Might keep playing on Switch, though. I'm pretty sure the newer userbase makes it easier.

Had a fun duo with Kerumba (on here!?) but this really needs some work on docked Switch, I had so much slowdown trying to take on a few people at the end I took damage from someone who wasn’t in the room with me! The game didn’t seem to recover and was stuck at 10fps or something silly and just couldn’t shoot, shame as was close to a win :( 

 

However, something about the Switch version makes me want to play it - as a die hard 60fps whore I really shouldn’t bother but playin it on a Nintendo with the pro pad almost makes it worthwhile - I hope they sort out the account stuff as I’m gonna drop silly amounts on World Cup skins/dances and pick axes!

No need to apologise. For most of the match I was away from the machine and doing nothing! Got called away for a family related thing.

Hold down the button as you place a piece, keep moving, it automatically keeps building. So you can build a ramp as you run up it, or spin on the spot to surround yourself with walls.

 

I'm gonna be on a bit later, add me if anyone fancies some games - Epic username Pistol 451.

I'm feeling it a bit more today, had a hair-raising moment where I landed on Snobby Shores and just couldn't find a ruddy starting gun!  I think half the game had landed here so I had to play it so stealthy. I found some grenades and hid under a stairwell, I could see a gun outside but there were bullets flying past that area - someone got close and died; then a guy came to get the legendary Shotgun that dropped, I threw a grenade in advance and it got him perfectly! Ran out, looted and got sniped losing most of my health.

 

Scampered back under the stairwell and used up a big Medkit, I saw the dude go past searching the place for me, I waited patiently and Shotgunned him in the back as he left, a legendary Sniper-rifle dropped outside the door and I saw this as an opportunity! He'd also dropped some C4 to so I placed it around the area waiting for a person I could hear in the distance. The fucker must have known his shit though as by the time I actually saw him he was perfectly placed in-between all the traps and I right clicked disappointingly to see him unharmed, he attacks and chases me in the house, I'm almost dead and in a last ditch attempt to save face I throw a grenade at my feet and take him down with me.

No worries mate, it's all good fun! Everyone starts out learning the ropes - I'm not all that good myself : lol:.

 

Perhaps head for quieter spots for a while though, tilted towers is quite hectic and stressful while you learn the ropes!
