The DOF Reality will work on a console too, and the buttkicker will work not just with the sound but you just need a game that will output data via UDP which is then consumed by sim racing studios on a pc (eg you still need a pc to receive the data and drive the rig, but I’d imagine any old laptop would do that…)

Console games that do this include Forza and F1 (but not GT)

You can do android app, or pc dashboards in the same way

I bought ETS2 and hated it.

At the time I was living in Cambridge and seeing my girlfriend in Kent at weekends, so I was very used to that particular driving route (Cambridge > M11 > M25 > Dartford Crossing > A2).

So of course as soon as I got the game I decided to replicate the journey, to see how faithful it was.

The answer: not at all. Cambridge didn't look anything like Cambridge, the motorways were totally generic and the Dartford Bridge (which is pretty distinctive) was unrecognisable, again just a generic bridge model.

The actual game might be completely brilliant but I just didn't really enjoy it at all and bounced off it.

I should probably give it another try and drive to Belgium or something.

I've downloaded the demo, curious to see if I can recognise anything. 😅

I’ve had a bonus and want to give some of it to Fanatec in return for a DD pro.
I’ve been watching the website for a few weeks now and the bloody thing is never in stock. Anyone got any idea about what’s going on there? I know they’ve had a lot of warranty issues. Is it possible they bit off more than they could chew with the GT7 partnership?
I remember they said about a Bentley wheel a while ago. That’s disappeared as well.

Everything sim related is near impossible to buy of late - I imagine Fanatec just can’t meet the demand, you can barely buy any stands either. I got mine a month or two back and it was in and out of stock quite quickly.

Fanatec do seem to have over expanded the business without the support side up to speed, shame as they were brilliant for me back in the day.

I wish Thrustmaster would get their act together and announce their DD wheel!  So tempted by the Moza R9 wheelbase with the CS Round Wheel rim and I need them to stop me pulling the trigger 😅

I think it goes something like this. They saw the Fanatec DD announcement, panicked, did a press release then sat down wondering how they were going to make the product they just teased.

Yeah, this does seem to be the way.  Tbh, I might be better off going with the Moza anyway, as it means I'll have a full TS-PC wheelbase/wheel combo to sell on (if anyone's interested let me know).  My intention was to buy the Thrustmaster base and use the Ferrari rim that came with the TS-PC, assuming they end up being compatible, so I'd then only be selling my current wheelbase.

Looking on eBay, are people scalping DD Pros now? One on there for £1500!! Yikes

They had plenty for that kind of money when they were in stock, never really understood why and if anyone ever buys one - you could buy a podium for that!?

Well it seems people are willing to pay over the odds. I watched a used DD pro 5nm with the 2 pedal set up.

Bearing in mind the RRP new is £699

Seems to be a common theme for anything thats in the UK - I want to get the McLaren wheel, loadcell pedal and the beefier PSU and they are all available direct from Fanatec but if you look on eBay people are just reselling them with markup thats well above price + vat + delivery.

I guess its like the PS5 situation where people are willing to pay it so people are taking advantage :(

I have a spare, unused, boost kit I can sell you for a bit below RRP if you're interested?

All Fanatec stuff sells for close to or over RRP on eBay, well since I started buying stuff in May 20. The only thing I can think of is people not wanting to wait, or more likely not understanding the customs aspect of buying direct.

When I bought my McLaren rim, I knew I could try it and sell it on for about 30 quid profit.

I also made a decent amount back on my CSL Elite setup despite the GT DD Pro being available at that time for order (for delivery a month or 2 later)

Think I’m giving up on getting a DD Pro for now. I contacted Fanatec and they said no date available for new stock.

Thinking of getting a Sparco rally or competition wheel  for my T300. Or maybe the Ferrari alcantara wheel.

Anyone had any experience of them?

I play mostly GT7 do a bit worried about buttons and things but I’m sure I can adapt.

They’re a bit bigger diameter than the stock wheel, I wonder what impact that has to gameplay?

I've been thinking of getting a new rim too.  I've been periodically checking eBay and Facebook (ick) and so far the only conclusions I've made are:

a) rims don't seem to go for cheap very often, and

b) the used alcantara ones always look horrible - like someone has attacked it with a sander and then a heat gun.

I'm thinking of the Open Wheel rim (this one) for our GT3 etc races, but I do like the look of the Sparco P310 too.  The plasticky feel to the standard rim is the worst thing about the T300 I think.  That and the annoying screwholes on the back where your fingers rest.  Oh and the d-pad on mine is starting to miss the odd click here and there...

Bigger radius will mean slightly lighter steering and slightly less intense feedback, I would think?  Hoping it would be countered by the larger size just being more like the real thing.

You could get a proper shifter too and start using that 3rd pedal? :)

I was quite surprised to read that alcantara is a man-made material and is essentially plastic. Which is handy as that means it easy to clean, so you might be able to get a bargain with a really manky looking one and attacking it (gently) with soap and water.

Hey, I have the T300 open wheel rim. I think its better than round. Buttons are in easier to reach places close to thumbs and paired so I have +/- buttons for brake bias, ABS and TC. Its a bit lighter than round wheel but beware that while its stiff its not rock solid and the alcantara wears quickly. Or at least the surface does and what remains is a surface that feels similar to the open wheel but is softer.

@Fretnoise same as me then. I think the sparco ones have better shifters so I’m swaying that way.
If you want an open wheel style the other option is butcher your existing rim ☺️ and use one of the custom kits you can get on eBay and Etsy. Seems a faff though.

After selling my randomly obtained Fanatec boost kit to @Shimmyhill and deciding that Thrustmaster are never going to announce their DD wheel (it'll defo happen tomorrow now), I've decided to go another way with direct drive.  A Moza R9 wheelbase:

To be paired with their CS wheel:

Should be here the week after next, excited!

Editing doesn't fix it for some reason.

Remove the attachments at the bottom of the post in edit. It does it when you paste images from your clipboard.

What stand are you on mate? Since adding your 8nm boost kit thingy my stand does get rattled loads more - adds to the sensation…. but having never really thought about a proper rig I can see that my setup would benefit from something more solid than the stand plus seat add on thingy, its never ending isnt it? I remember being happy with an ironiNg board 😉

Im gonna get at monitor stand thing this month (no rig upgrades, promise) and looking at this one as its on wheels https://www.gtomega.co.uk/products/art-simulator-monitor-stand

Anyone used one or recommend something else? Worried there is some sim rig tax but do like that is on wheels and only has to cope with a 43” LCD or 48” OLED when we get a bigger main telly.
