As I said in the football thread, delighted with the Bothroyd signing, not so much with the Dyer one. Upson would be great if we could get him. Proven premisership players is what we need to bolster the squad.

I kind of blame wilkins for ruining us back in the day, he made some of the worst buys in the history of the league

I don't know if it was Wilkins fault, we sold Ferdinand and never replaced him, and you only had to look at Norwich selling Sutton, and Forest selling Sheringham in the two seasons before to see what selling your top man and not replacing him did. When we sold Sir Les we ripped out 20 league goals plus, what, 40 assists by way of headers and indirects through him running at defences.

Yeah, Chris Wright was a complete cunt, but as much as I love Wilkins, he's blatantly a shit manager, and he did buy a load of wank.

So stupid to sell him now when he could have scored so many, and be worth so much more by January or even the end of the season. Still you gotta with him luck at PSG, hopefully they can make the Champion's League next season because that's where he belongs.

Doubt there is any chance of Savage as he is fully retired and firmly in his media carrear now.

My family used to live on Loftus Road and my grandfather used to charge people to piss in a bathtub in his garden.

A penny a piss.

I doubt the business model would work these days.

I can tell you it does.. One set of my endless amounts of cousins in Ladbroke Grove, amongst other parts of the world, charge £1 a piss during the 4 days of Notting Hill Carnival, whilst selling horns out the front of their house. They make a killing every year.

Been seeing this extremely unlikely, yet so bloody exciting story about Crouchy being recycled for days.. I would be so happy if that happens. I didn't realise that Dogsout kind of knows him, they're both from Hanwell and had mutual friends, and it turns out he is a QPR fan, and obviously a local lad. So there's slightly more chance of it happening than I first thought. We'd have a real good chance of winning a lot of games next season if we get him.

Jesus, not Crouchie! Please. I guess he'll score goals but only on friendlies against the likes of Jamaica and Botswana. Maybe Belize.

Are you mental!? Did you not see how many goals he set up for Spurs last year!? Diagonal to Crouch, nod down for Van der Vaart, GOAL. Repeat. He always scores goals and gets loads of assists, wherever he is.

Spurs career (from wikipedia): Apps: 72; goals: 12

I know there is more to football than just goals but his record ain't that great and that's with someone like Modric behind him!

Is he better than what we have? Yes. Am I excited by the thought of him coming? No.

How can you not be excited about someone who will improve us!?

And please don't tell me you're on this bandwagon of the amazing Modric. I'd fucking bite someone's hand off if they offered me £30 million or more for him! Complete midfielder my fecking hole!

1. Very enthusiastic and eager

I don't feel like that. I feel like it would be better than, I don't know, Hulse but I'm not enthusiastic and I think there are better players ut there.

Better players that we can realistically sign? Like who?

EDIT: And I'm well aware of the definition of excited.. don't try to patronise me.

A quick one just to thank the 200 QPR fans who travelled to Plymouth for Romain Larrieu's testimonial last night.

I thought you looked OK and it wasn't that much of a friendly. There were lots of subs in the second half. Bothroyd didn't look too good - he doesn't seem fit. Dyer was quite dire other than one cross. Your right back in the second half had a nightmare. Sean Derry looked very slow. Good to see Paddy Kenny back and he pulled off a few good saves - as did his replacement. Danny Shittu would have been sent off if it wasn't a friendly for a last man foul. You pinged the ball around well at times and you are a big physical side. I'm not sure you'll cut it in the Premier League - I'd say you need at least five good signings.

It was an entertaining game though. 0-1 to QPR with a goal in the last minutes - not sure who scored but it could have been Shittu - was a free header from a corner.

Bothroyd was replaced by Heidar Helguson and the Icelandic forward went on to head home the winner in the 90th minute from Petter Vaagan Moen's corner.

It's depressing times. If only those two bastards Eccleston and Briatore weren't so fucking greedy, things could be so different right now. But it's the same old story with us, the money never gets spent, whether it was to win the league, or now just to stay in it.

EDIT: Also, the lads did have an intense training session yesterday morning as well.

Thanks for the report :)

I would agree, we (that is, QPR) need 5 established Prem players in the squad. We simply are not good enough to cut it otherwise.

On the Taraabt front. It's a shame. I would have liked to see him have one season in the Prem with us (any longer than that was never going to happen).

Apparently we lost Kyle Naughton to Norwich in the final hour. Perhaps they offered actual money for him.

It's horrible to be thinking this now, but I wouldn't actually mind next season being a disaster if it meant Flav and Bernie deciding to sell to Mittal.

I just don't understand the mentality. The only thing I can think of is they are taking a rick on staying up on a shoestring, and then sell the club to Bhatia for the price the were asking for.

I just don;t understnad why, if they have no real passion for us staying in the Prem, they didn't sell to Bhatia/Mittal, who obviously did give a shit.

The only explanation I can imagine is that's all in the context of the Bhatia's failed attempt to buy the club outright, when we had all the hostile quotes from Bernie comparing him to Murdoch (saying like with Murdoch talking about buying F1 "he forgot to ask if it was for sale") and then describing the eventual bid as insult. More than just a breakdown in relations between the owners (with Bhatia obviously stepping down from the board) you can almost imagine neither side wanting to invest their own money in the club now because by doing so they'd obviously raise the value of the club, and with that the price either of them would have to pay when it comes to buying the club outright. I mean you can well imagine if Bhatia gave Warnock the £40 mill budget that was mentioned were his prior takeover bid successful he'd only then have to pay that amount again when it comes to buying the rest of he shares from Flav and Bernie.

As depressing as that is there's no way the situation can exist forever. I imagine Bernie, if not Flav as well, are open to selling. Just in the abscene of a huge offer now they want to see if they can jack the asking price up any more at the end of the season when we'll potentially be a more established Premier League club... and maybe for a couple of non football men like themselves who've (IMO) basically lucked out managing to find themselves a promotion winning team on a bunch of bosman signings and loanee players after they finally let their sixth choice manager get on with things, that doesn't sound so unlikely.

...Many Rangers fans hope they will launch a takeover but Mittal has no intention of meeting Ecclestone's £100m asking price, more than twice what Venky's paid for Blackburn last year. Instead there are reports of Russian interest with speculation centreing on Alexei Mordashov, owner of Severstal, a steel and mining conglomerate. Severstal sponsors several sports teams in Russia and the 45-year-old Mordashov – worth $18bn according to Forbes – has business connections with Mittal and lived in England a decade ago...
