The only decent thing to come out of last night was Adel finally getting a bit of a game and shoving his credentials up Hughes arse within 84 seconds of coming on.

I agree with the show of faith in Hughes. We have done the manager merry go round far too much and we need some stability. But, Hughes needs to wise up and fast.4-4-2 is not going to work. The midfield got overpowered last night. 4-2-3-1 with Faurlin and diakte as the 2. We have enough attacking midfield talent in the "3" to support a lone striker

Out of the frying pan and into the fire?

Oh well, at least it should be interesting. Will 'arry be able to make many changes? Our squad is already bloated and Fernandez can;t have bottomless pockets?

Great to see Mackie scoring at Old Trafford. Amazing that it's the same guy I watched sticking the ball in the net for Exeter in the conference,

How is Dyer getting on?

I didn't think Chelsea were all that bad to be honest, certainly not as bad as they were making out on MOTD. More a great team performance from QPR and a little luck it seemed to me. Anyone but Harry, eh? :) I reckon he'll be a hero at Loftus Road before Rafa is at the Bridge!

I like how it's been over eight months since anyone posted in this thread, like we're all trying to collectively forget the complete and utter disaster that it was.

Still - things are looking good! Unbeaten, top of the league (as of right now anyway), and I don't recognise half the team, which considering how our Premier League campaign ended can only be a good thing. Sorry to see the likes of Derry and Mackie go though. Taarabt finally gone too, but that was inevitable, really.

Christ, even je suis Joey Barton is back and playing well. And we're still buying players. Onwards and upwards!

Worried? No. Disappointed? Definitely. We're still in a great position that some 20 other teams would love to be in with a game in hand and some 15 more games to go...but Redknapp and Fernandes between them don't seem to have learnt their lessons from last season and wasted the transfer window opportunity. From the outside, to me at least, we look like team with players who don't really care enough and so don't put in a the required shift...again.

Add me to the "not worried" club. Only getting one point against three teams in the top six obviously isn't the form of a team that'll qualify for automatic promotion, but we're still in a strong enough position to keep Burnley looking over their shoulder.

The main problem at the moment, as it has been all season, is that Charlie Austin is the only player who actually seems to have any goals in him. And now that he's out for the rest of the season, we're paying the price of over-reliance. But what were we supposed to do in the transfer window? It's not like there's an over-abundance of prolific, Championship-level strikers who are actively looking to move elsewhere. If a striker has the knack of scoring for the team they're currently playing for, why would they want to join us halfway through the season? I still don't see Zamora as the solution to all that ails us, but at least he's a known presence in the team, and hopefully his fitness levels improve steadily from this point onwards.

Our defensive form that steered us so well for the first half of the season seems to have evaporated as well - how much of this is due to Mclaren heading out to manage Derby a few months ago is up for debate, but I certainly don't think it helped.

The arrival of Ravel Morrison from West Ham should shake things up a bit, and after disappointing results against Burnley, Reading and Derby, that's exactly what we need. But the fact that his 93-day emergency loan was timed exactly right to account for any potential playoff games that we find ourselves in speaks volumes. Damn, if someone had offered me a worst-case scenario of playoff contention at the start of the season, I'd have taken it no questions asked.

Actually, no, I change my answer - I'm definitely worried. Mainly because I find myself starting to like Joey Barton as a player again. Christ.

So, all down to tonight, then. I must admit, I would feel more happy if we had an away goal cushion. As it is I am concerned that our less than stellar chances to goal ratio is going to cause us trouble. I don't know if we have more than 1 or 2 goals in us and I am not convinced its going to be enough.
