Have refs ever had such a low reputation for quality as they have this season?

Every week has a new shockingly bad decision driving a lot of the chatter.

Not that I can remember. It's not even a case of things that you notice watching on TV after repeat viewings from multiple angles, etc. They're decisions that are genuinely inexplicable and a load of them every single week.

How on earth can they give that? Get the tucking technology sorted and get it implemented. Incompetent doesn't come close.

It's not even tech that's needed. Just a video replay. We already have that technology!

The game was stopped anyway, any nonsense saying it would hold things up is just gumpf - and we play injury time for diving cheats, why not for something important.

2-1!

What are the commentators going on about?

A goal or a red card?

Playing advantage does not make the foul go away. If it was a red card foul then it's a red card regardless of whether it was stopped or not.

Jesus christ I hate ITV.

The Chelsea second is a joke. How the fuck could he give that is beyond me.

Also surely a yellow for Cech then? If Bale wasn't there would have been a stone wall red. A caution for bringing the man down without touching the ball surely?

How come Cech isn't sent off there? Anywhere else on the pitch and the ref would give a card after advantage had been played.

Difficult to send someone off for denying a goal scoring opportunity when they score from the opportunity. Although anything's possible with Atkinson in charge.

This is a real FA Cup match.

Probably more the first round, if not before that, than a semi-final though. The first half was awful, then Chelsea with their excellent second goal which they follow with suicidal defending as if they thought the ref would change his mind 10 minutes later.

Quite easy to book him for a foul though.

It's not even a debate.

Personally I'm still not even sure I want it though, I think I'd rather have the controversy and the raw "is it in?" emotion from the stands. It's just a game at the end of the day.

Maybe we've spent too long in the lower leagues and it's affecting my view on the game, but I do enjoy not knowing for sure. As long as the refs aren't literally corrupt I like them being in full control of the game, even though they're usually shit at our level. My biggest worry is that if goal-line technology comes in it's only a matter of time before offsides will be included too, and I really, really don't want to start going down that slippery slope.

I'm pretty sure I'm in the minority nowadays though.

Goal-line tech is coming.

Is it, I thought FIFA were still opposing it?

Such a taint Ashley Cunting Young put on the match that it sapped the enjoyment from the one thing I really look forward to every week for the rest of the match. Hope he fucks off promptly, it's making it hard to justify or enjoy the footie, winning the title (if it happens) is not going to feel nearly as special and I hate the little shitbag for it.

Ah good goal from Lampard.

Tottenham have been fucking rubbish again though, seems more a case of them losing the game than Chelsea winning it, they've barely needed to do anything beyond taking their chances (and non-chances).

To be honest I'd just like Redknapp to go and balls up England, whatever has gone on since the whole court case thing has clearly ruined the club's season (maybe Redknapp actually coming to every training session?). Though someone will need to explain to me why speculation about a manager's future job prospects leads to players losing the ability to pass.

I, for one, definitely think that Redknapp is the man to lead England towards numerous trophies. He's done a really great job here! Great sub bringing Defoe on, changed the game.

They were chasing the game, he had to do something. It was a throw of the dice that backfired. I don't think he can really be criticised for that.

Taking the link away between the attack and the midfield that was already losing a bit of ground was a stupid decision. Defoe isn't going to make anything, he might get on the end of a long ball but they've not even tried moving to that. They're playing as they were, but with a less suitable player on the pitch.

But if I'm not allowed to criticise him for that, I'll criticise him for his big stupid face.

Do any people who know anything about football actually want Redknapp as England manager? It always seems to be his old boy's club and clueless know-nothings demanding he be put in charge, and put in charge this instant. I can't see it being anything else than yet another fiasco.

He missed another that nearly resulted in a goal when Malouda (I think) was on the wing, shoved the defender in the back and ran in for a cross that looped past the far post. Refs are paid aren't they? I didn't imagine that?
