Wish commentators would say what they really thought instead of towing the line, they weren't even that condemning of that blatant dive. Should have been a booking for diving, still don't want city to win it anyway after seeing their fans back licking tevezs arse cus he could be bothered to turn up to score.

Watching in the UK will you have Neville talking about this at half time? Be interested to hear what he has to say about it.

Find the pundits are a bit more frank on ESPN Star. Expecting McMahon to tell it like it is.

Re the commentator/pundit toeing the line - it's ridiculous that their agenda is still to promote the PL as a product above truthful punditry. Everyone watching the matches can see what happens, it's embarrassing.

It really is about the money above all else. Bunch of wankers ruining the beautiful game.

Well even if we smash Villa, the win is tainted. If Young didn't have a reputation before, he certainly does now. I don't feel particularly sorry for the ref for being deceived; he should know that Young has simulated, because the way he fell doesn't match up with the momentum he had. At least he didn't send anyone off.

Young made it look embarrassingly theatrical but I don't know if you can call it cheating when there was not one but two instances of contact in the foul. Fact is that if you stay on your feet in those instances then the penalty doesn't get given.

I think nearly everybody I've seen who's claimed that both incidents were penalties because 'there was contact' have been United fans. If penalties like those two were given across the league every week with that kind of justification, the league would soon do something about it.

He made the most of it but there was still contact.

It wasn't a foul, Young has made the contact himself. Despicable cheating and we're seeing this tactic more and more often.

There's also no way they don't practice this skill, which is something else to think about.

I don't like this whole 'there was contact' call for penalties, especially when it's an excuse for players throwing themselves to the ground and acting.

Contact != Penalty.

Contact that makes the player fall over or lose possession or prevents them scoring should be a penalty.

If they are able to stay on their feet, then it should not be a foul. Throwing out a leg to try and brush a defender when going down is cheating.

Which it shouldn't be. As far as I'm concerned if the contact isn't enough to bring you down or alter your stride then it isn't a foul. The defender has pulled his leg away too. It's an awful piece of cheating, but then Ashley Young is a total cunt so it shouldn't come as any surprise.

Interesting too that it's supposed to be these untrustworthy foreign types who dive the most, but at the moment Young and Bale are the two worst perpetrators in the league. Bale being the biggest media darling too.

Young went down far too easily and as a United fan I don't want to see him doing that. But let's not pretend he's the only player that does it. And the Liverpool fans in here berating him need to remember that Gerrard and his young apprentice Suarez are as bad as anyone in the league for diving.

Tom Daley would've been proud of Ashley Young.

You'll find most of us don't actually defend them. We were giving Carroll shit for it recently.

Yeah but that's because Carroll had rounded the keeper and lost a certain goal for you guys. :P

Also that looked like a blatant handball by Villa's Clark.

Well that too, but Rockboy's not so subtle shifting of the focus onto others is misleading when Liverpool fans on the forum call their players out on it. Diving is shit and no player is a saint, and pundits keep flip flopping between encouraging players to do it because they are 'entitled' to and then complaining when it happens in another game. If the FA had any sense they'd start cracking down on it, but they won't because they are idiots, so players think they can get away with it and often do.
