I'm finding RLLMUK in general more entertaining than ever, I can't get enough. That it's so overblown, corrupt and in some ways broken makes it all the more interesting for me.

In a similar vein, even non-Gooners might want to take a look at the second part of today's Arseblog update, which briefly touches on the Derry incident, and then talks about the terrible message the FA has sent out by refusing to punish Balotelli for his foul on Song.

It's worth reading because it points out that the FA are hiding behind Fifa rules which aren't actually rules at all, merely guidelines, and there is plenty of recent precedent for foreign FAs to apply or lengthen suspensions for incidents that the officials have seen at the time.

I can understand why the FA can't (or won't) retract Derry's red card because of the offside but it really should have been for the dive. If they do that though would they have to retroactively give Young a yellow? Fucking daft either way really.

That Arseblog post also, again, highlights how hilariously poorly all leagues are at punishing violent conduct, not just the FA. 4 or 5 games for deliberately harming a player in a manner that could well end their career? Laughable at best.

I think taking back red cards is a much more difficult thing to do than retrospectively banning someone. I can see complications with the former (what if sending a player off prompted the rest of the team to up their game, for instance?) but I see no problems at all with the latter. Especially if the original referee is involved, as seems to be the case in most of the instances Arseblog mentioned. Surely that's empowering them, rather than undermining? If they do it every match, they deserve to be relegated but that sort of situation crops up maybe 5 or 6 times a season at most. The chances of it happening to the same referee more than once are fairly slim.

So yeah, the FA are shit.

The fear the FA and FIFA have of doing anything with the game is just pathetic.

Goal line tech is just about crawling into existence and I know football is a very different game to its closest cousins Rugby and American Football but Jesus the officiating in that is a world apart. Not to say it's perfect but at least they try something!

It's much worse to be a racialist and say a word at someone rather than crippling them so they'll never walk again.

Of course we all agree with that, as it's entirely correct.
