Dubious decision but Fulham got what they deserved, they could have hurt United a lot more if they actually got the ball in the box instead of passing it back from Duff to the keeper it a twenty pass more that looked nice but accomplished fuck all. Should have brought Ruiz on earlier too.

Aluko and McCabe played some lovely stuff, while the rest of our team were knocking about some very neat one-touch passing moves. It certainly wasn't the stereotypical blood and snotters display you seem to be suggesting it was.

Ref nailed all the decisions and kept bookings to a real minimum. All 3 reds were correct to the letter of the law, unless you happen to be Neil Lennon, in which case, get it up you, wee man!

Aluko had a decent goal, but overall play between the two teams was frantic and undisciplined, though I suppose I'd concede that for an Old Firm game, it was relatively 'footbally'.

The Newcastle/WBA game on afterwards was football on a completely different level, skill-wise.

 It was hardly the most vitriolic display from either set of fans. I thought it seemed all very good natured, as far as the rivalry goes. Behaviour seemed great, all things considered.

I didn't say it was the most vitriolic display from the fans. But whenever a Celtic player had to take a corner, they were pelted with litter. I'm pretty sure that fact alone allows me to say 'hate-fuelled', and that's before mentioning that Lennon couldn't sit in the stand (one report says the Directors' Box) after being sent off, because of the security risk. That's fucked up.

Apart from when Rangers lose / miss out on signing a player / go into administration, aye? Hmm. Well we won yesterday. You can now legitimately go ahead ignoring Scottish football I suppose.

Absolutely. I live in eternal hope I'll be able to one day enjoy watching the Dons play in a league that doesn't have a pre-defined winner. That's optimism stupidity for you.

Ref in bottling nailed on penalty claim against United at Old Trafford shocker.

Shock, horror! At 27 years old he's probably a Man United supporter.

Well, if this Utd team are gonna win the premiership, the quality of the league has taken a massive dip this year. I suppose it does show with only one English side through in the Champs league.

Ruiz really hasn't been that good for us though. He'll take it round one player, try and get clever with it and then lose the ball time and time again. You could say the game changed for us when he came on but I'd call the Murphy substitution the turning point. If Murph had started I reckon we could have pulled back a draw.

And yeah, probably a penalty but Utd were the better team and probably deserved the points.

I think you'll all find that most United supporters will admit that should have been a penalty, but it's all swings and roundabouts. We've had as many decisions go against us as for us this season, just like every other team in the league.

What's less surprising is people that think United get an easy ride.

What's for certain though is that the heat is on both teams at the top. That was the nerviest display I have seen from United for a while.

That derby at the end of April could be the biggest league game for a while. What odds Man Utd clinching it at City?

I wish I had a link to the stats about penalties given against United at Old Trafford. I remember it being blatant how few are given there, and it doesn't compare to any other team at home either.

So you're saying there's an actual conspiracy rather than just being based on the law of averages/bad ref positioning/lack of dug-out replays, etc?

I'd be interested to see it, but I'd also be interested to see how many pens we don't get awarded at other grounds, amongst other things.

If you win when you're playing well and win when you play like a nervous mess, you get titles. To get the same points, City are going to have to play much better than Man Utd will.

There is no conspiracy, but there is definitely a fear of giving decisions against the big clubs because of the intense media scrutiny it generates. I've said it several times in this thread, but if a ref gives an iffy decision against Manchester United then it gets repeated on Sky Sports News every 15 minutes for three days because of the size of their fanbase and Sky's willingness to play to the gallery. If the ref gives an iffy decision against Fulham it gets mentioned after the game by the manager, touched on briefly in the match reports and forums like this, then forgotten about by dinner time. The trial by media that a referee can become a part of has to have an effect on their decisions, even if it is purely subconscious.

Yeah, I'd not thought of that, but there's probably some truth in it.

Realistically though, shouldn't the FA and Sky be talking and not letting refs become the scapegoats for a system which is prone to human error? Failing that, they should maybe look at getting some refs in who are more focussed on getting their decisions right above worrying about their image in the press.

Has any referee been punished after a media witch hunt? I seem to remember one being relegated a couple of years ago, but it's certainly not regular. I think the abuse from the fans there on the day is more likely a determining factor than Sky replays.

Leicester vs Forest is a fucking dire game. Both teams have zero ideas, Cotterill makes the decision to take off a midfielder and bring on a forward - exciting! Then we continue to play hoofball and time waste. Leicester can't get past the reasonably solid looking Forest defenders, so most the game is played around the middle of the park with both teams piddling about. Good point away from home, I guess.

Any Wolves fans here? Do you think you'd let us have Adlene Guedioura next season? He's class.
