It was harsh. Caught of the full volley and it struck him on his arms, and his arms were raised. But they were raised because he was jumping and he was about one yard away so very hard to do intentionally.

They were raised as he was about to get a ball in the face, nothing to do with jumping as it wouldn't have been a pen had he not put his arms up in the manner he did.

Spurs sneak a point, hopefully a turning point as that could easily have been the fourth loss on the bounce.

Liverlol is all we need to say really, shame as QPR are on my list of teams to go down.

Arsenal bloody arsenal, when will their luck run out!

It was a handball, not sure how it being on target or not matters - kinda harsh but he had both hands up covering his face from the shot so i think it was a pen really

Just saw the goals from the City - Chelsea game. I don't think the penalty was as harsh as Radio 5 were making out. Robbie Savage was talking like the ref had made a horrible mistake or something when the penalty was awarded, but I have seen those types of penalties given loads of times. If anything City have a bigger cause to complain over the Chelsea goal. Luiz pushes Barry in the back before winning the ball and those get given as fouls all the time. Lovely football for the winner though, great run from Nasri and the assist from Tevez was superb.

In other news, Real Madrid drew 1-1 with Villarreal tonight, and had both Sergio Ramos and Mesut Özil sent off late on (Ramos for two yellows, Özil a straight red for dissent in the aftermath). The gap has closed to six points. With a Clásico at Camp Nou still to come in April, Madrid can barely afford to slip up in the run in.

Sergio Ramos ...sent off late on....

In MLS news, I'm currently enjoying this catchy number written for Salt Lake by the drummer from Rancid. Yeah. Also enjoying the girl who appears on the right of the video at 0:15 - you don't see many of them at a rainy game in Rochdale, do you?

Oh, and was anyone wondering what happened to Rangers legend Kris Boyd? No? Well, he's in MLS now for some reason, doing what he does best - scoring loads goals with zero style.

Bonus goal celebration .gif from Sporting Kansas City too.

Blimey.

Isn't it also the case that Head to Head records count for practically a point in La Liga so if Barca beat Real it'd effectively be a 2 point deficit?

Not sure, either way that spices things up a tad...

Nothing to do with Redknapp playing Modric on the side of midfield or inexplicably playing two up front when Defoe has deputised for Van Der Vaart brilliantly all season and Adebayor has been good on his own.

That is all part of the same problem , whenever we get a injury instead of playing a straight replacement for the injured player, he will just put either VDV or Modric out wide where they are completely wasted out there. He has no trust in the reserves at all, Parker looks fucked now while Sandro sits on the bench hardly getting any games andPieneer when here never got a decent chance even when we had injuries.

Harry has done an amazing job at Spurs but for 2 seasons now it looks like after a great start , all that effort goes to waste as we drop down the table to 5th again.

Yup, so Real Madrid can afford precisely one draw if Barcelona don't muck things up themselves.

It's still firmly in Real's court though.

It's catchy, but I find it disproportionately annoying that they say ARR ESS ELL when Real Salt Lake has the same number of syllables anyway (nearly)
