Fair enough. I agree that their play-acting is often overlooked but watching Messi, Xavi and Iniesta is such a pleasure. I don't understand how people can call it boring, except perhaps not understanding that when something is done so easily it can look boring.

Oh, they're not boring. I think sometimes they're content to pass the ball around in their own half while their shell-shocked opponents cower in theirs, which upsets people that think they should be attacking at all times, but they're definitely not boring. There are very few truly visionary passers in football at any given time, and by my reckoning this Barcelona team has at least three of them. You cabn't take your eyes off them in full flow, lest you miss something incredible.

A Dalliance in the Allianz?

A face-puchin' in Munchen?

...

Sorry, I'll stop now.

Trying to find something that rhymes with 'Bavaria' and works has proved to be an exercise in frustration although, who knows, maybe malaria will play a part at some stage?

I think we've got a couple of Stoke fans here, haven't we? We've just signed this guy Diego Arismendi on loan from them which seems really weird as he's only 24, has played for Uruguay a couple of times, was apparently the best player on the park when Stoke played Valencia away and was signed in a deal worth up to £4.8m. The Stoke message board I checked had a fair few clamouring for him to be in the first team. But then we've got Barnsley and Brighton fans saying he's crap (which makes more sense considering he's come to us rather than someone higher up). If anyone's got any insight I'd love to hear it 'cos he sounds like a bit of an enigma.

I know a mate that rates him, but I've never seen enough of him to really judge him properly. I think part of Pulis's problem is that he pretty much has an established midfield set out, and he doesnt like change. That and I dont think he particularly shone during his loan spells at championship clubs, which makes it even less likely that he's going to put him in the team, except on rare occasions like cup matches. I think he sees something in him though, which is why he keeps loaning him out in the hope he shows he's got some talent, but Pulis isnt the kind to risk upsetting a settled team in the hope he comes good. He's not particularly known for daring decisions, is Pulis. You can probably tell that by the way we play.

Has it really been the same since then? That surprises me. Guess I've been fooled by the pundit pillocks and their bias against foreign players

I remember theatrical dives, emulating pro players, being a staple of the lunchtime football match when I was at primary school (despite there being no referee to award ill-gotten penalties), so it was definitely fairly commonplace by 1990!

I'm struggling to see it. Their midfield is just going to be given the absolute run around. You can see Boateng popping up with a goal, but the second the leg agaisnt Arsenal exposed their frailties for all to see. If it's going to happen it would have to be a smash and grab built on an absolute defensive master class, and with Nesta injured that's unlikely. If Mesbah gets anywhere near the pitch Messi will probably get 7.

I would have thought the best bet against an all Spanish final would be for Bayern to beat Real.

Edit: interesting that the SPL-like Spanish league has as many teams left in European competition as England, Germany and Italy all combined with 5.

I don't think the players can be blamed to any extent for what's gone wrong this season.

Lol! I never understand people that blame the manager for everything, or maybe the board, but oh no, not the professional athletes who get paid a fortune, it can't be there fault! Lol!

wasn't Foe's death down to a heart condition? i hope this isn't a repeat. Reports suggest he was recieving CPR on the pitch. It doesn't sound good :(

Foe, Feher and Puerta all died from heart conditions that are difficult to detect.
