In the 70s, Francis Lee used to be known as Lee Won Pen. There is a clip of Billy Bremner (I think) getting into some sort of handbags session and pretending to dive all over the centre circle.

Edit: And England would never have beaten Cameroon in Italia 90 had Lineker not perfected the tumble and associated head flick in the box.

HAHAHA people still remember that? My dad still insists that Lineker cheated Cameroon out of a semi-final place! :D

Tried to find the Franny Lee clip. Led me to this which features a top quality dive from Lee at the (non) feet of Norman Hunter.

A bit later, Hunter and Lee start throwing a couple of punches at each other, the ref sends them off and they start brawling on the way to the tunnel. Best bit is Hunter clearly clocked Lee in the face in the initial melee and a commentating John Motson seems surprised that they are both sent off!

Isn't he just saying that the club's in much better shape now than it was 18 months ago, when they nearly went out of business, even if the league table doesn't reflect that? It doesn't seem to be particularly insane.

Yes but what he's actually saying is "Everything is better except the only thing I'm responsible for". It's all very well claiming that the club is in better shape but that's in spite of you spending £100m on shit Kenny, not because.

They got a boost when he arrived (statistics show this is the case with nearly every new manager) and he's been consistently terrible since. Imagine what a proper manager would have done with all that money. Liverpool fans must be seething. That sense of entitlement will take the heaviest of batterings when they finish seventh.

I'm curious to hear what Liverpool fans think. Are they just glad to be shot of the previous owners, happy with the Carling Cup (and still in the FA cup) and think the team needs time to blend or that Dalglish is a disaster and they are going backwards? Or somewhere in the middle.

I venture into the Liverpool thread sometimes. A lot of people seem pretty pissed off at Dalglish's tactics this season, mainly that he has gone very negative compared to how they played when he first took over. I think that shows itself in their 'Goals Scored' column really.

It's a rearranged game, but not sure how that's got them around the rules.

Yeah it's a weird one though because in Scotland they had to move the kick-off to a couple of SPL games last year to 6pm so as not to clash with the CL, it was reported that there was no way around that if you wanted to play on a CL night in a top-flight league.

Weird.

I think they were getting by on their defence being brilliant, mainly. Haven't Blackburn scored more than them or something stupid?

I'm not sure we are the best example to use as a stick to beat another club with. Blackburn are fucking good going forward this season, its completely at the expense of any kind of decent defending though.

As a Liverpool fan I look forward to one day telling my kids about the season we secured a glorious kit deal, supported racism and couldn't score for shit. I'm welling up now just thinking about it.
