Van Persie is simply incredible. Best player in the prem at the moment.

Silva looked a shoe-in for player of the season but it's hard to make a case for him when Van Persie has been as consistent as he has. His volleys are just mindblowing.

As the last truly exceptional player at Arsenal RVP has pretty much carried the side this season. He deserves to play for a big club, his evolution as a number 9 could make him a good fit at Madrid next season.

I wouldn't want to go to Madrid next season if Mourinho is leaving.

Just got back from the LFC match. Easily the worst Arsenal side I've seen at Anfield in 10 years of going - I'll be truly amazed if RVP is still there next season. He single-handedly won them that game today (massive help from LFC's horrific finishing of course).

I love all the 'worst Arsenal side in xx years' comparisons, especially when they beat other supposedly superior teams. If it's the worst Arsenal team in 10 years (no that I'm disagreeing that it's not) what does that say about the Liverpool team?

As a footy fan you want to cringe when watching Daglish interviews but then no matter how bad your team is doing at least he isn't managing them i guess.

His after match interview basically said that if Liverpool could defend and score goals they would have won, he should call the sides in the bottom three and pass on such insight into how to play the game!

I was just looking at the stats for the West Brom game and noticed Long came on as an 84th minute substitute. I don't really follow the club much (though I do rather admire them and some of their players) and was wondering if some bright spark on here can fill me in. What's happened to Long? At the start of the season he was this icy cool goalscoring assassin but he seems to me to have disappeared off the radar for a while - has he been injured?

Sadly not all teams can have the money to spend on class like Henderson and Carroll.

Yeah I did think he did well saving that penalty and getting onto the end of his own crosses to score his goals today as everyone else just stood about and watched. Belm.

He's just getting that slightly bitter feeling he has when your team loses a game you really think they should have won out of his system. The best thing to do is just pay it no mind and ignore it. Trust me, I'm a Stoke fan, I see it a lot, we get it from pretty much every team we beat.

The cross for the first goal was amazing. Yes RVP scored it but it was all down to a quality ball in.

As was Songs ball to RVP.

As for "Worst Arsenal team in ten years", well, the bar was set ridiculously high for a large chunk of that time period :)

Lastly, I think its fitting to hear "we were the better team" "we were more dominant" etc from the losing team considering that its often Arsenal who have found themselves in that situation. I'll concede that Arsenal were bloody lucky though, Liverpool hit the post at least twice and iirc missed an open goal.

It was a funny game wasn't it? Liverpool's work rate was far superior; despite Arsenal matching their three in midfield, they made it look as if they were crowding them out. For large portions of the match, Arsenal were very deep and unable (or unwilling, given some of the hoofs out) to keep the ball, so you could arguably say they dominated the game. Yet Liverpool didn't seem to have the quality to turn their possession into goals, and Arsenal did.

Reading this thread and hearing other people talking last weekend. It tickles me just how much Liverpool are hated by the neutrals now days. The damage done over the past few months is shocking.

I have never known the hatred as bad as this before.

Today's result was on the cards as soon as the second half started and Kelly missed that open goal. Liverpool just aren't clinical at all. Will be an interesting Summer, I feel though Liverpool will continue to go backwards.

He's just come back from injury but the main reason he isn't in the team is that Fortune has been playing well and we've just won 3 in a row so the side hasn't changed and isn't likely to at the moment.

Chelsea didn't play badly today, Albion played really well and deserved the win.

Chelsea fans bleating on 606 is hilarious. Banging on about Chelsea being a massive club and that a club like Chelsea deserve to be in the Champions League and that it's unthinkable that they won't be.

Boo fucking hoo

Eh? We've always had shite from other fans and neutrals, it was only really Istanbul that made people who weren't our rivals sort of like us. Otherwise it was jokes about turning the corner, Fat Spanish Waiter or guff about the European ban.
