Modern balls do crazy shit. You have to feel a little for goalies these days.

Scott Parker is a good shout for captain. I've said it before, but I'd love to see the captain chosen per set of fixtures and for a tournament rather than them be 'permanent'.

I am so glad Capello went and Pearce got this. A much higher level of tactical awareness. Also Micah Richards has had a run out that he very richly deserves.

We are lucky the way that Hart has developed to be a world class goalie after the problems we had just a few years ago.

And it is good to see Leighton Baines not as nervous as he has been on previous England appearances. If he can reproduce his club form he will do well.

Also it is good to see fat Frank out of the side. He hasn't contributed for years.

Just a pity that we lack strikers.

What in the fuck am I watching? That must have been 3 minutes of England passing continuously across the back 4. Jesus christ.

Usually I hate this but at the time they needed to calm the Dutch down. They were building momentum and we killed that. Now looking very good.

How does he manage this?

Ridiculous amount of curve

Without wanting to be too obvious, it's all about the technique. Watch his kicking foot after he's hit it-it whips right round in an arc in the follow-through which creates the necessary spin on the ball to make it curl as much as it does. Also shows why he meant it rather than suggesting it was an attempted cross-if you wanted to just put it in the box your follow-through from that position would be relatively minimal and you certainly wouldn't lean back as much to get that much height on the ball.

Exceptional goal. But then I'm hard for Lansbury anyway.

The under 21's look brilliant. Patient, good on the ball. Aren't young Belgium really highly rated?

Hmm. Belgium have some really good young players (Hazard, Lukaku, De Bruyne e.t.c) but I don't think any of them turn out for the u21s. I also know that the senior team certainly has... 'motivation' issues because Belgium isn't a proper country and no one cares about it.

Ach, if we came up against Holland in a proper Euro match, we'd get destroyed. We're simply not good enough, our play is always far to slow and predictable. It doesn't matter who our manager is, the youth system in English football is shockingly bad compared to other countries.

The price of losing to Exeter City! ;)

It sounded like he was on borrowed time in the post match interview after that game. It seems that teams like Udders and Wednesday are desperate to get out of L1.

Well we've been stuck in League 1 for like 7 or 8 years now so I think as much of it is boredom as ambition.

I can totally see Lee Clark going to Wednesday, suddenly finding the ability to manage in the playoffs and knocking us out.

Edit: Someone could also do with telling our players we're desperate to get out of League 1 so they stop pissing good leads up the wall EVERY FUCKING WEEK.
