Martin Allen sacked by Notts County.

Having walked out on Barnet FC twice I can't help but have a little chuckle to myself that he's lasted only 10 months. I'm not going to deny that overall he was a positive influence for us, reinvigorating the club last year when we looked dead and buried. But, after walking away from Barnet with a couple of games to go for the chance to build a club in a higher league (money) it seems like this great opportunity has sadly been taken away.

I'm sure this will work out well for him in the end as some League 1/2 club will employ his escape relegation-can't do much else consultancy - after all we're about to enter peak desperation season.

It's because they have Leicester next round if they get through the replay so they are as good as out. Unless they bring Erland Johnsen out of retirement to cheat us out of it like last time.

I remember Leicester in the Carling a few years ago. 2-3 at 87 minutes, Chelsea won 4-3. I was at that match :)

Don't think this has been posted (from the guardian):

At San Siro on Friday night, a lesson for all supporters with an axe to grind. The most effective way to ensure your message gets heard is neither to trail it behind a low-flying aircraft nor to enlist the aid of a celebrity on Twitter. Instead of wasting your time with protest marches through city centres or assaults on a club's training ground, simply allow your frustrations to be expressed through the words of a child.

"Could you win?" read the polite banner held aloft by the nine-year-old boy with the Inter scarf and the mousey brown hair at the front of the Tribuna Arancio. "Otherwise at school they will make fun of me. Thanks, Filippo."

Unfortunately they couldn't, Inter imploding yet again as they lost 3-0 to a Bologna side who started the weekend in 17th. But unlike the supporters who waited outside the stadium at full-time to aim kicks at the car of Ernesto Paollilo, Filippo could at least be sure that his feelings had registered with the club. On Saturday the owner Massimo Moratti ordered team officials to identify the boy and invite him to attend training the following day.

There he would receive a personal apology from the players, led by the captain Javier Zanetti, as well as a new replica shirt. He would also be interviewed by just about every news organisation in the peninsula. "The manager [Claudio Ranieri] came to shake my hand and I asked him to win again soon," he told Gazzetta dello Sport. "But I wanted to ask him why the players haven't been shooting much lately. If you don't shoot much then you won't score much."

Awful awful decision. You can't get anywhere with your best players sold and only loans to replace them. Grayson had us playing nice football when we had the team for it, and always kept a level head. Annoyed.

*please not warnock please not warnock please not warnock*

SO.

You were gutted to lose Grayson and now we've got him. We all thought Warnock was coming back and were gutted to see him go to you. Seems like no-one's coming out of this merry-go-round happy at the moment. Although Lee Clark probably will as I'm sure he'll get a job at a higher level given that he's come out of the whole thing somehow smelling of roses.

That said, Grayson's got a good track record at this level and if he gets us up I'm sure the fact that he's a lifelong Leeds fan will be forgotten, as well as all the shit he's talked about us in the past. God help him if it goes tits up though, I can't see our fans giving him a lot of patience.

I have quite an interesting football fortnight starting tonight:

Tonight: An anniversary event of our (in)famous 2-1 win over Leeds 10 years ago in the FA Cup when they were top of the Prem. The best game I've ever seen. City legends Andy Legg, Graham Kavanagh, Scott Young and Earnie will be doing a Q&A. David O'Leary and Nigel Martyn are in hiding.

Sunday: A trip to London for the Carling Cup Final against Liverpool to either complete the achievment of losing all 3 major finals in the English game in less than 4 years or to become the first Welsh club to lift the trophy and replace the above Leeds game as my favourite ever game.

Wednesday week: Wales vs Costa Rica at the CCS - A Gary Speed tribute game/night following his tragic death last year: Costa Rica were the team he got his first cap against.

Sunday week: A top of the table clash in the Championship against probable champions, West Ham, who will be looking to avenge their 1-0 lost to us at Upton Park on the opening day of the season.

Not a bad time to be a Cardiff fan.

I was musing to myself about loan signings last night as I'm sure we all do from time to time. If you've got a team that has two very good strikers likely to score 20 goals each a season, is it actually in your interests to loan one out to another club? In this hypothesis not only is your club taking points off your rivals, but your loanee is doing so too. If you gauge the club right and they're not a close competitor then, barring an injury to either, you can't lose. That it could happen seems a bit unfair.

That could be an interesting clause in the loan contract. "you can play well, but don't score more than xx goals to give your parent club any problems". I mean, the clause often says you cannot play against the parent club or in Cup competitions. It could all be academic as FIFA are talking about ending the emergency loan system
