God I hate Twitter. What in fuck's name do Wayne Rooney or Jack Wilshere know about Huddersfield Town to make a judgement on Lee Clark's sacking? Been down and sat in the Kilner Bank recently lads?

Probably just listened in to those shit-stirrers on TalkSport and parroted back what they took to be the gist.

Tbf how do you know they don't know about Huddersfield Town? You're just making assumptions that cause they play in the Premiership they don't care about lower leagues. Rooney actually spends a lot of his free time watching and taking in world football.

I'm not actually. I'm making asumptions that they haven't been to any of our games or seen enough of us for them to be making wild statements about how Lee Clark has 'worked wonders' and that his sacking shows that 'football has finally gone mad'. We've been on Sky three times this season so I very much doubt they'll have seen more than that. Even if they watched them all it hardly represents comprehensive knowledge of our season so far, never mind the past three and a half seasons under Clark. It's the same with most of the media that are giving our chairman (who's very well loved at the club, is one of the good guys and has backed Lee Clark to the hilt for years, showing far more patience and loyalty than pretty much anyone else would've done in the same circumstances) a good kicking without even taking a passing look at the full picture.

I just find it annoying that suddenly footballers now seem to feel obliged to wade in with opinions on things which have very little to do with them, that's all.

It does seem a bit mental that when you've only lost 3 games, 4 points off auto promotion and theres only 1/3 of the season left, they'd opt to change managers. Granted youve drawn a lot, but do you honestly think a new manager at this point is the right thing to do?

Here, here. I'm surprised, given just how much Huddersfield have spent, they've not managed to get to the Championship. You've always been a very well supported side for as long as I can remember (been going to watch Plymouth regularly since '86 so that's a long time) and you've always seemed like a sleeping giant. Sometimes, a manager has taken a team as far as they can.

What you need is this guy back - he's got all his coaching badges now

I dunno if you saw my post a couple of pages back about it (I wrote too much so wouldn't blame anyone for skipping it) but yeah, I can appreciate that on the surface it looks mental.

There are many reasons why I think it's the right decision but the crux of it is that we've been steadily getting worse in terms of performances the past couple of years to the point we're at now where most people dreaded going to a match, particularly at home. Shit football can be excused to a degree if it's getting you success but in all his years here, for all the money he's spent and the endless amounts of players he's signed, we've gone up five league places and look no more likely to get promoted than when he arrived. After the Sheffield United defeat last night it's unlikely to be anything other than playoffs again this year and unfortunately his playoff record is played five, lost five, including the fairly typical tactical shambles that was the final in May in which Jordan Rhodes, now probably the most sought-after player in the Football League and always a consistent scorer for us, was left on the bench (as he was for half of last season) in favour of puting all the attacking responsibility on a 17 year-old loanee who, despite having other qualities, couldn't hit a barn door if he was sitting on the handle.

In any case, there's talk that the decision has been made primarily for non-footballing reasons, ie breach of contract. It was obvious he was hankering after the Leicester job (and possibly had some sort of talks) earlier in the season and there'd been rumours for the past few days that he's spoken to Leeds. Just rumours at the moment but given how much faith the chairman seemed to have in him I wouldn't be surprised if the real reason ended up being something along those lines.

It's just a horrible feeling seeing the club and chairman getting so much unjustified shit for this.

All the Rangers fans have to go somewhere, too. Maybe it'll be like when the News of the World closed down and all the people who bought it just bought whatever paper was where it used to be in the tray the next weekend.

no. Is this a serious post?

God, he was a PROPER centre back. I'd give my right bollock to have him in defence right now. Fierce free kick on him n'all. I was gutted when we sold him to Man City after just a couple of seasons.

I'm reading his autobiography at the moment - he was brought up in Plymouth and played for us at all levels hence my interest - and you wouldn't want him anywhere near your club... some of the stuff in there is brutal. There's a story about how he left Huddersfield. He went into Peter Jackson's office after he'd been stripped of the captaincy and threw his table across the room and then, some seconds later, Peter Jackson followed  he left for £80k for Man City almost the same day.

I'm likely to be watching Huddersfield in August/September as we visit the in-laws at the end of the summer and they live in Hipperholme. I've been to most of the teams nearby to watch a game (even Halifax Town) but Huddersfield have always played away when I've been there.

Tonight proves that Vermaelen isn't the world class CB a lot of people make him out to be. I rate Koscienly a lot higher than him. But Vermaelen gets s few more goals. Pundits seem to drool over him.

Arsenal just have no goal threat besides RVP. And without Fabregas and Nasri, they don't keep the ball as well as they did. Even when Arsenal lost in the last few seasons, they always used to dominate possession. In the big games, they been really shown up this season. They can't keep the ball like they did and with a defence like that they will get punished.

Alex Song has also been shocking tonight. Has provided zero cover for his defence.

Ironically, Chelsea are now looking England's best chance of winning the Champions League and, at the moment, in the league, they're mediocre at best. It's not been a good year for English clubs in Europe and I think we've all (the English people) become accustomed to being generally successful in the competitions over the past five years. As an aside, the pitch at the San Siro is awful. Wenger will blame the pitch.

Just a couple of things from todays events...

Lee Clark getting sacked is a disgrace, Huddersfield are fourth in the league only four points outside the automatic spots. There has been criticism about the amount of money he has spent but the club are still right in contention, seems an arrogant decision to me. Huddersfield have no devine right to get promoted especially when they are battling with Charlton, Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United who are probably all bigger clubs.

I'm getting bored of the "Arsenal aren't very good" thing, it got boring three years ago. Either make Wenger spend money or get rid of him. I personally rate him highly but i just can't see him pushing Arsenal any further than they are at the moment without spending. Who knows if they hadn't got beat to us in the Carling Cup final, everything could have been different...

Jesus Christ, Neymar has been APPALLING tonight. He has missed about 8 sitters, and got booked for an awful dive in the area. If any scouts are watching him tonight then he won't be coming to Europe any time soon. £30 million? About 3 numbers too many on that price.

Hah and The Strongest look to have won it in injury time 2-1. Santos totally deserved that, they had so many chances second half when the hosts were pressing and took none of them because Neymar kept missing and falling over. It's probably not fair to blame one player, so I'll blame his stupid haircut instead.

The problem was more that they couldn't keep the ball in the Milan half. Overall they had 57% of possession.

Milan could easily have had 6 or 7. Their movement off the ball, both in possession and without, was brilliant. I was surprised by how intense their pressing game was at times -- they pressed right up the pitch, with even the forwards closing down, which is something I didn't see them do last season. Stopped Arsenal from ever getting into their rhythm.

Also, I've no idea why Rosicky started. MIlan typically play a narrow midfield, so the obvious approach would have been to try and stretch them by playing a winger on each side.
