Serious questions, will they really go at him considering he's only had four months or will they lay the blame at Capello's doorstep?

You can never tell which way the press are going to turn. If I was him (and the FA's number one choice) I'd probably try and persuade them to cook up a "I can't leave my contract before the end of the season. It would cost millions" story and have Pearce as a caretaker managed until after the tournament. Probably not the best choice for the team (and could backfire if they do surprisingly well), but at least he'd get some breathing space when he did start.

Guy on TV reckons we can get Guardiola

Level of punditry on Sky. Guardiola's been successful of late therefore get him in to manage England. Never mind that England's finest don't begin to have the technical qualities required to play Guardiola's style of football (with maybe one or two exceptions).

Hiddink anyone? Proven international manager and available

His stock as an international manager is pretty low after an ultimately mediocre stint with Russia and a pretty disastrous time in Turkey.

Turkey granted.

But he did a decent job for Russia at Euro 2008. Knocking out Holland and losing to the eventual winners.

Beckham said that his experience at the WC put him off of management completely, so I don't think that's likely.

How about Pearce buggers off with the England team and Harry does the Olympics instead?

I don't think managing the Olympic team is real management and I can't see him ever wanting a career in it long-term, which means even if he's rubbish it won't matter, so I doubt he'd be massively against it.

This post is bang on, even all the manager ratings.

Imo Glenn Hoddle was probably the best manager we've had in the last 20 years and our fucking press (and the public!) hounded him out of the job. Morons.

"You and I have been physically given two hands and two legs and half-decent brains. Some people have not been born like that for a reason. The karma is working from another lifetime. I have nothing to hide about that. It is not only people with disabilities. What you sow, you have to reap."

Vilify the press if you wish, but there was no way back from that PR clusterfuck.

I didn't know he wasn't given a heads up? That is a fuck up if so

I'm 99% sure I heard on the radio they did tell him their decision prior to telling public/press etc. They just didn't involve him in the decision making process.

Correct me if I'm wrong - did Cappello take the Captaincy from Terry when is was only alleged in the media to have been shaggin another players wife? So it's a bit inconsistent in his approach.

This is pretty fucking pathetic isn't it.What a bunch of complete losers we have running our national sport.

They're winners - they do what they want and get away with it. What is true is that they're scumbags of the hugest order.

The Capello fall out on social networking sights is a rarity to behold. Some pretty jingoistic drums being banged like; "he doesn't understand the English way" and "he should go back to the Dolmio adverts".

Its pretty pathetic considering the recent outrage and backlash regarding Suarez/Terry

In other news how the hell did Redknapp get away with that? Ludicrous. Spurs' lawyers do it again!

Surely Redknapp on a part time basis from now until after the euros is a no brainer.

After that there'll be time to look at the situation again and make a full time appointment.

Redknapp probably being the most likely candidate again, if he'll leave spurs that is.

Well I'm gutted. Capello has breezed through two qualifying campaigns and has the best win percentage of any England manager.

But when it came to South Africa, the only thing that mattered, he screwed up on a monumental scale.

He took many of the wrong people and then when he was there he asked them to do the wrong things on the pitch.

He was tactically naive and the other managers ran rings round him. So we massively under performed.

I'm not sure Daniel Levy will see it as such a "no-brainer".

I'd say naive is the wrong word to describe Capello, he's one of the most experienced managers in the world and has won a ton of trophies.

I also don't think we can lay the blame entirely on his shoulders. The players under performed terribly - Gerrard's stint as captain was great for the first 15 minutes of game one and the he vanished for the rest of the tournament. No-one even looked like they wanted to be there, remember Rooney's outburst after thy were booed off against Algeria?

On top of that, we now know that a bunch of them were distracted by court cases, Terry & Rooney's super-injunctions were both due to break after the tournament so I've no doubt that off-field issues hadan impact on our performance.

Everyone called for new blood in the England team and Capello's done just that. Eveyone called for a much higher tempo to our game and again, Capello has done it. Like I said, we're not good enough to win the Euro's, but I'd have loves to have seen what he could have done with us.

On the subject of the new manager, how come Tony Pulis hasn't been mentioned? England would be dull as anything to watch, but he's a good motivator and we'd get results.

England Manager's job is a poison chalice. England are a middle of the road team and eventually the media followed by the fans will turn on the manager, who ever he is, when he fails to deliver them the World Cup or European Championship.

The only reason for Harry to take the job is for a mega, final payday or out of patriotism.

Take my advice Harry, stay at Spurs, you've already achieved more then they could dream of a few years ago and there are a few more years of success possible with the team they've got now.

So we massively under performed.

Really? Was it Capellos fault Robert Green couldn't catch the ball against the USA? And would England have really beaten that German side even three times out of ten? (And the Lampard non-goal had little to do with it.)

That hilarious GIF of John Terry throwing himself at the ball should be posted at FA headquarters with a huge caption "THIS IS WHAT IS WRONG WITH ENGLISH FOOTBALL".

Pffff, there is no way Redknapp is going to manage England before the European Championship. Spurs will demand so much compensation, it'll be enough to pay for a whole new stadium. Why? Because Spurs are in the middle if a massively crucial Premier League campaign where we could once again qualify for the Champions League and maybe even win the league.

As for Capello, do you lot think that he could take legal action for "constructive dismissal"? Just something I thought up there seeing as he clearly felt undermined.
