Interesting:

BBC Radio 5 live's Mike Ingham

"There is a grey area because my understanding is that the new manager will have to oversee the new football centre at Burton and all that comes with it. Going into his 66th year, would Harry Redknapp want the responsibility of overseeing all levels of England football?"

That's a long journey from Sandbanks every morning...

Harry Redknapp is 2-1 favourite.

Roy Hodgson 6-1

Jose Mourinho 6-1

Alan Pardew 8-1

Martin O’Neill 10-1

Arsene Wenger 14-1

Stuart Pearce 16-1

Guus Hiddink 16-1

Gareth Southgate 16-1

Sam Allardyce 25-1

David Beckham 25-1

Glenn Hoddle 50-1

Alan Shearer 50-1.

Some horrible names on there. Southgate 16-1? Monster lay once the market goes up on Betfair.

The whole John terry thing is one mans mess, but he's too fucking stupid/arrogant to deal with it.

All JT had to do was come out and say " Whilst these frankly disgusting and baseless accusations are hanging over me I do not feel it would be appropriate for me to remain as the England captain. I completely and utterly condem any and all forms of Racism and look forward to clearing my name in a court of law"

That's all he had to do.

But why should he if he really is innocent?

Because its the right thing to do, it's not fucking rocket science....

That's a matter of opinion at best.

Assume again he's innocent, so you've just had someone accuse you out of the blue of a hateful crime and now you have to lose your job over it too which you were already wrong suspended from once. Let's not kid ourselves, at his age he would be resigning for good either way.

If he was found guilty, sure but until then? Hell no.

Why would any right-minded fan of the national team want Harry over Jose? Jose actually makes a better fit in terms of potential availability, management style, someone to build a project etc. People just seem to want 'arry for a moderately xenophobic cause.

Jose's only been successful without stacks of cash at Porto - and they usually win the league or come very close in Portugal every year and he'd be too much for the FA to handle - he's another Brian Clough character. How would the FA react if he tried to slap another manager on the touchline or walked out of a stadium flicking Vs at the opposition fans?

An international coach/manager cannot buy anyone. They need to be motivational and liked by the squad and I think Harry Redknapp has always brought the best out of players he's managed - particularly at West Ham when he didn't have an amazing squad. He might not be popular on this thread but he'd be very popular with the squad as he comes from their World, everyone knows him and he's well liked within the football community. He's a similar sort of bloke to Terry Venables (in more dodgy ways than one) and he was a really good England manager.

Equally for Jose you could argue the international manager job is to get the best out of a bunch of prima donnas they probably didn't choose and don't know each other that well.

Which is basically exactly what he did with the early Chelsea team, assuming you believe Roman picked half the players.

From the Guardian, quote from Italpress:

They really insulted me and damaged my authority. What really hit me and forced me to take this decision was the fact the much-vaunted Anglo-Saxon sense of justice, as they are the first to claim that everyone is innocent until proven guilty. In Terry's case, they gravely offended me and damaged my authority at the head of the England side, effectively creating a problem for the squad. I have never tolerated certain crossing of lines, so it was easy for me to spot it and take my decision to leave.

Rafa Benitez for England!

Umm yeah. This. Someone who's tactically astute, but also has a love for the English game. Wenger would be great too for similar reasons, but I doubt he will leave his contract. Either manager could be at Madrid next season though, if Mourinho and the club are as tired of each other as they seem.

Don't be a silly bean.

I personally would take Harry because he's been in the premier league more recently and knows potential England players better. Also he has taken and average team and turned them into a top 3 club.

To top it all off, i really like Jose so would much prefer to see him every week being interviewed about club football and not hear idiots talking bollocks about him in pubs.

He's bang on IMO.
