Both penalities were soft for me. Each time the United player ran into the defender as much as the other way around.

The first one was a fair call in the current climate, in that he was touched by sturridge (and then fell over to win it). The second one clearly shows wellbeck kicking his leg out at the defender to fabricate contact.

Same old story though. Until the powers that be actually punish players for cheating then the rewards far, far outweigh the risks.

Reading the forums this morning, someone has made a complaint to Kick It Out. Calling someone a "gypo" (and by someone I mean 500 fans chanting it at the bloke for a good 30 minutes) is just as bad as chanting "nigger", "paki", etc. etc. - sadly, the main mods on our main fan site seem to condone it as contextual and banter. Truly pathetic. Even my 63 year old Dad was appalled by it yesterday and he's not exactly the most PC bloke in the World.

Rewatch the first two penalty calls, one was obvious. The foul on Evra in the box wasn't dubious, his foot was kicked from behind. Ivanovic went down like the front cover of Platoon, from what I remember it wasn't a foul.

Generally, the match was entertaining but a mess, can't disagree on that.
