I don't see it as astounding really. We all knew what he was like didn't we?

Having it said in a court rather than around a pub table is the astounding bit I think. To me, at least.

Is it going to turn out he got money from Diarra? Surely he got something from Defoe's transfer because that was ridiculous. Those are bloody huge chunks of money as well.

His odds on being next England manager must be lengthening dramatically. I bet this is all a ploy, he'll be found innocent, meanwhile having placed huge bets on himself being named the new England boss...all from account name Rosie 47.

Guys a genius :sherlock:

I reckon Redknapp saw that episode of The Simpsons when Bart got a credit card in Santas Little Helper's name and thought he would give it a try. He should totally use that as his defence.

"I saw it on The Simpsons so I thought it was OK."

0-2 down after 30 mins

That was us the other day against Brentford, 35-odd minutes of the worst performance I think I've ever seen us put in. We couldn't string two passes together, let alone get out of our own half. The ref gives a goal that should never have stood and we somehow stumble to a 3-2 victory despite only playing reasonably well for about ten minutes in the whole game. There's always hope!

I'd like to see Southampton get up despite you pipping us at the post for promotion last year.

This might be old news, YouTube comments suggest that it is but it has been recycled this week by the Liverpool Echo so I am comfortable with posting it. Last year Villa made a few "viral" videos to promote season ticket sales, there was one with John Carew hitting a faulty light on the roof of a stand with a ball and fixing it, one with Carlos Cuellar knocking a groundsman off of his lawnmower with a ball from 50 yards and this one:

WHEN John Henry and Tom Werner were informed about Liverpool FC’s interest in Stewart Downing last summer they turned to the internet to find out more.

The Reds’ principal owner and chairman stumbled across a video on YouTube which grabbed their attention.

“There was some footage of Stewart where he is, from 30 yards away, kicking a football into five different trash cans and it’s brilliant,” Werner recalled.

“John and I said: ‘Oh my god, this player is brilliant, we’ve got to figure out a way to make a deal with him’.”

The American duo later discovered the footage had been doctored but the excitement at Downing’s arrival remained.

That's amazing. Ever since Briatore got involved at QPR I've always thought there should be jobs for generally quite well informed fans just to sit next to clueless billionaire owners at meetings and tell them when they're being fucking stupid.

Balotelli has been charged by the FA then, 4 match ban - shame the ref couldn't see it at the time as ever.

Yeah. If only he'd thrown a calculating elbow and been booked they couldn't have done anymore...

Lescott has got a ban for his elbow then?

So Carling Cup 2nd legs this week. Prem vs Prem and Championship vs Championship.

The lower placed team in the league in both ties has a 1-0 lead from the 1st leg.

The higher placed team in each league both won 3-2 at home with last minute winners.

Should both be decent games - looking forward to tomorrow and will be delighted if we win, but not suicidal if we lose. Palace are bringing nearly 4k so should be a sellout.

Wembley awaits (again).
