I don't know if it's more obvious because they're a side constantly in the limelight, but even when they aren't injured it does seem to be a particular problem with Arsenal players looking unmotivated / lacking confidence. Arshavin's the obvious example, but you can also look at Rosicky and Chamakh as players that when they first arrived looked like they had real quality, where now they're just practically lifeless and don't even seem to try. These aren't players in their 30s or that have already achieved everything they could hope to. They're playing at the biggest club they're ever going to and should be at the peak of their careers. It's weird.

To me it looks too forceful to just be a case of him trying to regain his balance.

From that angle, yes. There is another, lower angle from the half way line where it looks like he is trying to get his balance. I think this one is going to have to be put in the "I've seen em given" category, because it's really only Balotelli who knows for sure.

that and he will just say that the push from modric pushed his body weight forward and therefore his leg back.

Just the 36 goals in 32 games so far this season for Messi.

Pelelol

Two more for Cristiano Ronaldo tonight too. If my maths are right that means he has 115 goals in 117 appearances in all competitions for Real Madrid, and a staggering 89 goals in 81 appearances in La Liga.

That was an absolutely blatant stamp from balotelli, he knew exactly where Parker's head was as his other leg collides with it first, then he throws himself over afterwards to deflect attention.

Dirty fucking bastard.

I'm surprised people think it was accidental. I'm not saying he deliberately aimed for Parker's head per se, but I think he was definitely trying to stamp on some part of him. To say "he didn't have time to think about it" or "didn't actually look at Parker" is ridiculous. It takes a split second to do something stupid without thinking and he knew perfectly well where Parker was.

Just seen Robbie Keane's brave. Crikey. Get him in at Liverpool.

Why are all these American based players coming over here? I see what it achieves for the player and English clubs, not disputing that angle. It's from the American side. Why are they allowing their best stars to come and play when they should be resting up after their season ends?

The Keane goals where fantastic finishes. Then again pretty much every goal on Saturday was an absolute belter. The goal Everton conceded shouldn't be forgotten either such was the comedy of it. Really enjoyed Saturdays MotD for the first time in ages, some great games.

I guess the MLS are happy with it as it must be making it easier to recruit more star players.

Player less hesitant to move over there if they know they still have a chance of a few months in the Prem.

I can't see RVP staying at Arsenal much longer. They are clearly a team in decline, with the manager seemingly refusing to spend money and strengthen. They've got away with if for the last few years, but now City and Spurs are starting to compete I can't see them getting into the CL places.

Mate, please don't trot out the 'Wenger refuses to spend money' stuff. It's rubbish. The club is owned by two billionaires who are locked in a seemingly perpetual deadlock over full control, and neither will invest any money until the other one fucks off. Plus where are the players to buy in January? We've also made mistakes by trying to implement a weird Marx-ist wage structure, and consequently have a load of shit players we want to offload but can't because no one will match their wages. If anyone cares, here's some stuff on Arsenal's finances: http://angryofislington.com/2012/01/19/arsenals-finances-the-plain-truth/

For 'the manager' read 'the club', if that fits in more with the club's transfer policy.

Fair enough, makes sense. Bit of a gamble with Keane though, he'll be off again in the Summer for Euro 2012. Then again I've never watched MLS so have no idea of it's intensity, maybe the players can still do well even when not 100%.

There just seemed a correlation in 2010 to the players who did well in the World Cup having a poor domestic season after it, whereas players who didn't go or perform like Nani having a great start to the season. I thought the players genuinely felt a rest was necessitated.

It's good PR for the MLS too. People over there who say the league is just a retirement ground for over the hill European stars cant really say that this year. Keane and Henry have already had big impacts since they returned and those clips will be shown on American TV plenty of times when the MLS season starts again.

Old Twitcher in court today.

Cracking stuff on Twitter. Apparently his cut on transfers going out was 10% at Portsmouth. Really looking out for the club there. Lovely chap.

This is pretty funny.

Well, it's because there's a chunky gap between the end of the MLS season (November) and the start (April), so there's plenty of time to rest up. The MLS makes a bit of cash, gets some exposure, it keeps some of their players fit in the pre-season and keeps them happy if they were keen to play in the Premier League a bit longer.

MLS is concentrating less on signing aging European stars and more on young South American talent these days, but Michael Ballack to Impact de Montreal is supposedly 90% done, and Seattle are making a "jaw dropping announcement" - not sure who that could be though.

In more MLS news, Tim Ream from New York and Sebastien Le Toux from Philadelphia are set to join Bolton this week. It's MLS week.

Amazing stuff coming out of the court case (apart from dodgy drawings.)

Bank accounts in Monaco (named Rosie47 after his pet/year of birth), shell companies in Florida, 10%/5% commission on transfer profits while at Pompey.

Not a faaackin wheeler dealer though right?
