LOL! What a finish! Class.

Wonder what Webb is doing too. Tiote booked for a tangle of limbs about ten minutes back - then Carrick and Wellbeck both stop Newcastle breaking by blatently taking out their man and nothing.

Surely you're not suggesting that the big teams get preferential treatment?

Couldn't quite believe that Park started and that our sum total of chances was a few long range speculative efforts that were easily dealt with (plus some decent keeping once more from Krul) and a deflected Berbatov header. Taking Rooney off wasn't the best idea unless he felt the game was gone and needs him for the FA Cup, and the substitution of Anderson was a little left-field, especially since he never comes up with much of an impact from the bench, let alone replacing a striker. Seeing so little of goal was simply down to how damn good Newcastle were today, defending as a team, getting to the ball first every time it came near the box and building up from there - a deserved win for them and a big reality check for our squad, even moreso than the Blackburn game since we've now lost clear ground.

Makes up for the Valencia booking then

A good point; that wasn't even a foul.

By that same measure the Ferdinanf challenge was cynical, yet clever, and he should have been sent off.

Refs; my only conclusion is that there's no point in talking about them.

I like to think it was the purest form of arrogance. He can do that whenever he wants. He turned round as soon as he'd kicked it, and refused to join in the celebrations. "Why are you celebrating? This is just a job man. You celebrate? That's what they want. The man wins".

Not a fan of Howard's nonchalance towards scoring from 95 yards out. If that was on the playground, you'd be windmilling around the pitch for a good five minutes before instigating a massive celebratory pile-on.

Supposedly it is because he feels for Bogdan, having suffered the ignominy of a keeper scoring against himself.

Goalkeeper solidarity.

Rooney looks like he's having another of his dips in form. Sure a great block by Simpson on the line but you'd have expected him to score that effort. Around the box he looked to lack sharpness and a few instances where his touch deserted him. Knowing Rooney something had been going on to "mess with his head". Will he sort himself out before the Euros?

That Man Utd were undone by two long balls and a long range free kick must be galling for them, and one player has to take pretty much full responsibility.

Phil Jones did have a complete nightmare. The first goal he was out jumped by Ameobi. He conceded the free kick for the second, also getting booked. Then a cheeky finish for the third - that was a terrible own goal in reality. A header from a bouncing ball in front of goal? He could have put his foot through it to clear.

Has he forgotten how to play Centre Back since his midfield jaunts?

Ferguson's can't drop him either - after the way Carrick played as centre back what other options does he have?

This insightful observation about Rooney, who has scored four PL goals in three months, brought to you by Dinobot.

Next time: "Torres could be doing better."

Rather, he's not contributing to the team at all. Which he's done in the past despite not scoring.

You'd say that someone like Suarez does contribute, and makes them a better team, despite only 5 league goals.

But hey. Feel free to look at the basic stats and not performances or go deeper than that, if thats all you are able.

To be fair - a Rooney dip in form is interesting as we should now speculate about who or what he has been shagging and when the papers will spill the beans.

I reckon - Giggs' sister-in-law's Nan
