Wenger does do some annoying things but the level of criticism he gets is insane.

It's interesting but this really is spot on, it does seem from day one of this season that Wenger has been singled out by the press. The Times has been unusually harsh on him for a while. Although the past month or so they seem to have eased up and gone for Villas-Boas. I'm not an Arsenal fan so I don't really follow the ins and outs with the club but sometimes it does seem over the top. Especially when you compare the fawning of Mancini for example.

I'll admit I was amongst the throng getting on his back earlier in the season, but I'm also big enough to say that I was wrong and he's turned it around under circumstances I think only Ferguson would have coped with. The reason the press hate him is because he's terrible copy. People like Redknapp feed them endless self-serving drivel whereas he tends not to bother with that whole scene.

Also, bare in mind he's been operating with his hands behind his back for the last 6+ years and the job he's managed to do really is incredible. This summer alone there's been yet another period of enforced negative spend and he's hauled us back up the table and we're in the knockout stages of the champions league. If Wenger was English there'd be some seriously bruised dicks around Fleet Street.

Villas manager after the match basically said we were gifted goals. Gave swansea little credit. Same thing has happened to swansea all season as far as lucky goals against us are comncerned (man u and arsenal spring to mind).

Both Swansea goals were utter gifts. The assists will probably go down to Warnock for a suicidal backpass and Guzan for a suicidal clearance. McLeish is having a laugh if he thinks that is why we lost today though, Swansea dominated the game from start to finish and probably should have won by more. Villa had their first (and only) shot on goal in the fifth minute of injury time. I was very impressed by Swansea, the football they play is lovely to watch. If they manage to get a more clinical striker in during this transfer window then a top half finish is a very realistic proposition.

The media in this country often go after foreign managers who criticise them and speak their minds, while carrying on an eternal love affair with the likes of Ferguson, Redknapp, O'Neill.

I dont think it is as simple as that. The media seem to love Mancini, and I would argue that the manager they loved more than any other in this division was some bloke from Portugal called Jose who used to manage Chelsea. It's not really about where you are from, it is whether you are good copy or not. Fergie gets a free ride because of how popular his club are, but managers like Redknapp and O'Neill know how to play the media. Foreign managers might struggle to adapt to that at first, or they just might not be great with the media like Wenger, but everybody gets a fair crack in my opinion.

We don't need a more clinical striker, Danny Graham has done brilliantly. His work rate is second to none and he's scored six this season. What we did need was an attacking midfielder who can chip in with a few goals and we signed Sigurdsson on loan from Hoffenheim to play that role.

Regarding Lampard's challenge today:

Quote from Ref, 'it could have been a sending off offence but i know Franks not that type of player'

That isn't a real quote is it? Surely not!?

I don't think Wenger is bad copy though I accept your point. He can come across as bitter at times, but then Fergie comes across as truly objectionable and spiteful at times. Thing is they can't touch him because he doesn't really care, but they seem to have realised they can wind up Wenger a bit and that's all it is, they just love a 'manager under siege'. It's tiresome but the nature of the game. Villas must be thanking his lucky stars that almost everyone else lost the past few days.

I don't recall other clubs with injury problems getting an 8-2 battering, especially not those with Arsenal's squad and general set-up. The Premiership isn't populated by oligarchs, keep it in context.

When you start saying black is white through a general feeling of disenfranchisement then you have a problem. They aren't hard up, please don't pretend they are.

I don't know how the players cope with such a negatve man at the helm.

Can somebody please PM me when Luis Suarez vs the world is not the #1 topic in this thread anymore?

The problem is, players are utter gays now. This would have been ended in the 70s in the club car park with two lads armed with snooker cues. Players simulate fouls now... pathetic. An actual footballer tweeted they had a 1 1/2 hour hair cut the other day. 1st problem, they TWEETED, second, they had a haircut that lasted over an hour....

Even worse than the facepalm reaction for me was that they deemed it necessary to TWEET they had an extended haircut. What is actually wrong with these people? Julian Dicks would shit in his pants over this and what a player he was.

Do you know the colour of a pot? If you don't, ask Mr Suarez.

I wouldn't post such tripe. Which is a surprise even to me.

You carry on with your YEAHH FOOTBALL LADS chat though, enjoy.

But could Neymar do it on a wet Tuesday at the Underhill Stadium, eh, eh, eh? And if he couldn't, how short would he have to cut his hair so he could perform there? Would it help if he received a cut that was bandaged? Would the use of Barnet by Arsenal, whose team clearly struggle to perform under a manager as negative as Arsene Wenger, affect Neymar's ability to play there?

GIVE ME ANSWERS FOOTBALL THREAD OF KNOWLEDGE.

Warnock is such a pratt. "I'm sure joey would not have gone down", yeah tell that to Gervinho you numpty.

Barton can complain all he wants, but he put his head in the face of the other player so it was always at risk of being punished. It's not like he's new to such situations, but seems to have some sort of mental block where he does not learn or mature as a player.
