The House on the Rock is a real place, and I believe they filmed all the scenes in the place on location.

Really? That's very cool it's an incredible place in that case.

The exterior looks CG, but I assumed the interior was real. It looked like too much to be putting together for a couple of minutes on a TV budget.

[edit]

Looking at Google, the real exterior is a bit rubbish and non-descript.

That's what I thought about the exterior too but I didn't realise it was a real place inside. Would be a great place to visit.

Pablo Schreider and Ian McShane are the only reasons I persevered with S1, I really liked them, and the basic concept. But the 'leads' were just insufferable

it's really odd at the moment. I was tired last night and watched the latest episode, very nearly fell asleep in front of it which is rare for me. The African old god lady is maybe a traitor or maybe not and is going around flirting with the other old gods for reasons? the new god internet is scared of mr world because he's doing a bad job and they lost the surveillance cctv guy? And all this seems to take ages and ages.

It's following the book pretty well from what I remember, that also was a meandering, wandering load of waffle in places, filler in the TV show is actually filler in the source material :(

Yeah, I've given up on this now. S1 was, at times, a bit ponderous, but had a sense of momentum. S2 is just rambling, aimless, and feels like pretentious wanking off far too often. It's like they only had a script for S1 and are now winging it.

I can't watch this. Or, to put it more precisely, I can't hear it. The sound mix is utterly FUCKED! dialogue is way too low in the mix, the moment there's any music it drowns out what people are saying. What the hell???

I'm still watching in the hope of more sexy Djjin sex, there will be more sexy Djjin sex won't there?

Don't know about Djin, but I had to turn the volume down while watching this in the office at lunchtime, didn't want the neghbouring companies to think I was watching porn in my lunch break :p

I watched this weeks and last weeks together, as I was away last week, enjoyed them both, from the spoiler bit's I've heard about Ep 7, I am looking forward and not looking forward to next weeks in equal amounts, if it turns out to be true.

I've really enjoyed this season, strangely for me it's strengths seem to be telling the stories from the past and weaving it into their character. The only person who I'm not invested in is Shadow oddly enough.

I kinda think it's because all the characters around him are so eccentric that Shadow seems a bit bland. He is just a long for the ride...I kinda wish they would stop him from being so antagonistic and grumpy, like he hates being there and everyone and would just commit to him going on the journey, because he is walking with gods and has nothing else.

Last episode was a bit annoying, lots of vague shit happening, should have been an amazing episode but felt purposefully abstract.

Marilyn Manson is joining season 3. He's playing Johan Wengren, blood-thirsty lead singer of the Viking death metal band Blood Death. Apparently a Norse beserker in service to Odin/Mr. Wednesday.

Season 4?

And what is the received wisdom re season 2? Worth a try or utter guff?

Ehhh, I gave up midway through season 2. It felt very aimless and self-indulgent, leaping full speed down the pretension rabbit-hole that it had only flirted with in season 1. Not everyone hates it, though. Some find the languorous pace and endless breadcrumb trails to be enticing, and the show can certainly pull off a visual spectacle when it has the mind to.

Yeah, I veered between this and loving it - when it's good, it's magic. Mr Nancy's monologues are great and Mad Sweeney's bits were highlights. But where is it all going?

Neverwhere remains, for me, the best televised Gaiman.
