I don't think we should waste any more time getting hyped for the big conferences

I reckon the console manufacturers should fuck off, and let the devs and publishers grab the headlines. If they want to launch a new console, they can do their own event some other time.

But that's what E3 is, isn't it? A trade event?

Is it maybe because of leaks and early reveals and stuff? I mean, if you hadn't already known about MW3, Gears 3, Mass Effect 3 and Halo 4, would you have been as disappointed? Sure, they're all sequels and all shooters (boring!) but those series always get plenty of hype on here.

I bloody love E3. It's hugely entertaining... especially when it's terrible. I can't remember the last time I laughed as much as I have to the E3 conference threads.

I hold E3 in the same regard as Eurovision, only better because Azerbaijan won't inexplicably end up as the winner.

We haven't seen new home hardware shown off since the Wii and PS3. Over six years ago.

Nintendo's will be fucking epic.

EA and Ubisoft both had ok conferences.

So, MS's conference was dismal. Sony's was seemingly more acceptable, but apart from the Vita pricetag, we still didn't really learn a lot. Nintendo's will presumably be more illuminating (new console!) but apart from the fact it'll have Mario, Zelda and others, will we really learn all that much this far from launch? No.

Every year, every conference, it's the same. Here's a montage of what you loved last year. Here's the huge, mega-hyped titles you already know all about. A surprise EXCLUSIVE title (hardly ever a surprise.) Mainstream-friendly crap games we don't care about! Montages of games further off, many of which will get canned!

Report: trolling ;)

As demos is short for demonstrations, demo's is fine.

By extension this proves Cochese was wrong about the cube and once and for all confirms that it slides and doesn't fly.

It's not though. It's a pluralisation of demo, which has become a word in its own right.

I agree that we shouldn't really bother getting hyped up about the conferences anymore, but I don't think the console manufacturers should fuck off either. It's their big chance to show off their games to retailers and to the media outside of the enthusiast press, so of course the conference is going to be geared towards the mass market.

Meanwhile, the developers and publishers spend the other 364 days of the year catering to the likes of us. I guess they could keep all their big reveals hidden until E3 rolls around in order to make the conferences more exciting, but then the rest of the year would be a bit boring and a lot of games would get buried under a tidal wave of PR, which is precisely why they're all revealed in the weeks beforehand. We get the same amount of excitement. It's just spread out more evenly.

I liked what was mentioned in Microsoft's E3 keynote. I'm almost as positive about it as Vemsie.

However, now MS have successfully stolen waggle from Nintendo, I reckon Nintendo's E3 keynote will be exclusively about a controller they've designed to replace the wiimote which is a combination of the N64, Dreamcast and original xbox controller and will feature 28 buttons and 5 triggers.

Yeah let's not get excited about the one time of year where there's a lot of hope, excitement, and the possibility of something new.

Why stop there though? Cut down on any sort of hype around the forum at all!

No more posting anything that might mean you're excited or looking forward to anything.

Its the future.
