Guardian Heroes - HD Remake

I hope they make it look nice. The Saturn game has horrible scaling which I'll be glad to see the back of, but it'll be a shame if it ends up looking like a flash game.

EDIT: Oh right, there are screenshots. Could be worse.

Multiplayer vs was amazing fun as long as no one had the fucking rabbit. Could not hit that damn thing with anything but shite low attacks.

I think I could take your Rabbit if I picked the Sky Spirit! :eyebrows:

Guardian Heroes multiplayer is the least balanced thing ever. It's awesome if you are playing in the same room as people you know, I imagine it will lose almost all of its charm online as people just pick the characters who can fly and drop bombs on the arena floor.

Unbalanced team battles were always the best. A buffed up Valgar versus five peasants was always good for a laugh! I imagine they'll include local play on this version too, so all is not lost - a shame it'll only be up to four players, though.

It'd be pretty awesome if they have an "all players must select random character" filter.

No PS3 version? That's a damn shame, would've been able to play it with a Saturn pad :( . The 360 pad and this game will not mix well imo!

You still can use that Saturn pad! With a pair of these bad-boys in tandem:

Zero lag too, I've been playing S3&K on XBLA with my Saturn pad although I originally picked them up for SSFIV.

Bought from http://keio.dk/index.html

Edit: I fuggin love GH

Han, cartoonist/artist extraordinaire left Treasure many years ago. GH was his baby in many ways and I'd hope the Treasure top brass would have done everything in their power to rehire him for this particular project. I think the last games he was involved with might have been Rakugaki Showtime and the original Bangaioh on the N64.

An equally unfortunate loss was that of mad genius Iuchi, seeing as his departure sealed the fate of the Xbox360 shooter he'd been working on.

You are making the assumption that Treasure is making this and I am highly doubtful about that. For a start they wouldn't use that shit horrible filter and I don't think they have any experience with porting to PSN do they ? (i know it says exclusively XBLA but there's still signs it may come to PSN eventually)

I will go fucking spare if this is a damn Backbone port.

Good news, the filter is optional...

Just to double-confirm from the Facebook page, the filter is optional and you can play in whichever mode you prefer. Clumsyorchid will be posting on the SEGA Blog to compare the two modes in greater detail soon.

Also, thanks for pointing out the website hiccup above. Just spoke with our web team and they're fixing this as we speak. We are gathering feedback (about any part of the game) on the SEGA Blogs that we'll be sending upwards to SEGA execs, so we welcome your opinions - they can and do make a difference. : )

Here’s another tidbit about the Xbox 360 release – we confirmed with a representative that Treasure, the original creators, are working on the remastered version of Guardian Heroes.

phew :)

Apparently this was shown on Gamespots 'On The Spot' (the programs still on so we'll have to wait for the episode to be archived) and it was confirmed that Treasure is doing the actual port, thank fuck.

EDIT - Beaten like a red headed stepchild.

I've still got a Japanese sealed Saturn copy of this I bought in Akibara years ago somewhere. Is it worth anything?

Don't think the Japanese version has ever commanded the silly values of the UK one. I bought a Japanese copy several years back in Akiba for about a tenner, and though it wasn't sealed it was in very good condition.

Phew, looks fine in 'normal' mode..

And they've allowed the talking head bits to be skipped at high speed - which is a welcome addition..

Was always there in the old version as far as i could remember. just hold one of the shoulder buttons and it flies through it.

I'm so excited about this, it was definitely my favourite Saturn game. I really hope this is a sign that they're going to do a proper follow up to it. Although everyone generally loved it I remember it getting a score of about 36% in Ultimate Future Gaming (a fucking stupid name for a magazine) and that had me FUMING.
