Guardian Heroes - HD Remake

Burning Rangers would have to be built from the ground up, the game is so wonky it's painful. I'd welcome a next gen version, mind.

I'm pretty sure it is Treasure themselves - at least that's the impression I got when I spoke to them about it the other month.

Expand pls!

I have CVG magazine to thank for my purchase of this back in the day... It was the cover game on the review issue and they absolutely spunked all over it for eight pages inside..

I remember several publications didn't 'get it' at the time, including some multiformat UK ones, might have been GamesMaster, at least Edge didn't do a Gunstar on it, or do an IGN and then have to put a game they rubbished on release into their Top 100 :P

I'd rate it as a top-tier Treasure title, brilliant in co-op and rather replayable with its multiple routes and different characters.

Treasure still sticking to the old school principle of exclusivity and maximising the target platform, even in this age, explains why it's only been announced for XBLA, like all the past Treasure HD remakes.

Yes.

YES.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSS!

Seriously, this is the best news ever. Me and a few mates played through it last year, to finally have it again will be something truly special, in HD aswell, bonus.

I wonder if they're going to keep the explosion slowdown. Was kinda part of the experience if you ask me.

Oh my god. I actually chipped in with a friend (the only other person I know who knows and loves GH) to get some extra Saturn pads and a multitap last year for six player sessions on this, but a remake has still been top of my wishlist forever. Valgar's theme is best. Also the win quotes in battle mode. And getting the coughing civilian in random select. And everything else. And unlocking the entire cast for the hundredth time because my lithium batteries keep dying. Oh my god.

Ah, so by "HD" they meant "we applied a filter to the graphics", then.

Still, another way to play Guardian Heroes! :omg:

Yes, it's not too bad tho, on my iPhone it looked like they had redrawn the sprites as animation cells which would of been cooler now seeing them full size it's just some kind of pshop filter, but at least they havent totally ruined it.

Begs the questions tho, wft happend to Treasures art guys.

It's one of the few issues I've hung on to..

Reproduced in readable size here:

Guardian Heroes - what a great game. I'll buy it all again as it's impossible not to be in awe of the the berserking Unknown Warrior. But your scan has reminded me how fucking great C&VG was in the latter half of the nineties as well.

Han, cartoonist/artist extraordinaire left Treasure many years ago. GH was his baby in many ways and I'd hope the Treasure top brass would have done everything in their power to rehire him for this particular project. I think the last games he was involved with might have been Rakugaki Showtime and the original Bangaioh on the N64.

An equally unfortunate loss was that of mad genius Iuchi, seeing as his departure sealed the fate of the Xbox360 shooter he'd been working on.
