Although I agree that the selection of games isn't exactly amazing you have to remember that they are free, and that they're compensating us for time lost on a service that itself is free. And even though I have a PSN+ account, I don't really mind that I've lost a month on it, because they're going to give us a free month of that. The fact that they've even bothered with some free games is nice enough for me. As far as I see it I've gained a few games at the expense of what? 3 or 4 weeks online gaming at a time when Portal 2 (a brilliant offline game) came out and the weather has been nice too.

I guess my point is, it's only online gaming. It's shit and no one cares, and we've all got some free games.

P.S. - oh yeah, the risk of identity theft is bad and that, BUT THAT'S THE WORLD WE LIVE IN, GUYS!

See, I was all aboard and waiting to get on the gravy train of moaners but this chap speaks the truth... I never use PSN, I hardly play online, I might have dabbled in COD a bit during the downtime, I might have linked Portal 2 to my Steam account (but not downloaded the game), I might have browsed on the PSN store, but there's generally very little to buy there and it's so hard to navigate I'd have gotten frustrated after about ten minutes and given up. The only annoyance so far has been issues with a UK credit card in a foreign country, but it certainly made me tie my boot straps up a little bit tighter where my online identity is concerned and two free games for very little bother is decent compensation. I'd written a post earlier about how the selection of games was crap and how they should be offering more recent and more desirable games but I deleted it when I didn't really think my voice was adding anything to the discussion, but after reading El Pupponvesh 2's post I saw the light. Thank you dear boy.

Was that P.S. an afterthought? I'm sorry but I don't give a fuck what games are being offered for free or what service is up or down. Sony are not compensating me for the lack of online gaming for a month. They are compensating me for for being slapdash with my personal data.

I think we should all praise Sony for making us think harder about where to put our personal details. Thinking about it now, they've done me a real favour. I should be thanking them.

BTW are people still getting this or is it just me? :(

Sony have read your previous post and decided that you don't care enough to get their service back yet.

So if we download wipeout do we get HD AND the Fury update or just the update?

I think I'm in the small minority who had bought a PS3 the week before, hadn't used my credit card details and basically see this as getting a couple of games I was a click away from buying anyway for free!

Has anyone gone to change the password and be told it has to be done on PC and you will get an email within the next 24 hours??

I have and apparently it is because this isnt the PS3 that PSN was first setup on

No sign of said email, not quite at 24 hours but come on Sony this is just the rotten cherry on an cake made from shite ffs.

Just you, probably. Mine's been working since Sunday.

It's been said that they have had a deluge of password reset attempts so it's going to take a while to send emails out, as you can't just send them all out at once (as you would know if you have ever been involved in email marketing). So give it a while longer.

Those who haven't received their emails, are your PSN accounts linked to an hotmail email account? There are reports that those with hotmail accounts aren't receiving the password reset emails.

Alternatively, there's this link which might be more useful in changing your password.

https://store.playstation.com/logout.action?logoutSuccess=true

:)

Mine is a hotmail email and checked junk, will try that link!

Edit - same link that says i will get an email with instructions within 24 hours.

I am getting seriously pissed off with this now, i still do not know over a month later if i have details saved and if so what damn card i need to be watching :quote:

Hotmail account here and no sign of the email. Been around 24 hours now. Is there any word on what the hell people are supposed to do if hotmail messages aren't being sent out then? I had initially received an email linking to that link above and it hasn't helped at all.

Well I already own Wipeout and Ratchet, so I guess it's a choice between Dead Nation, LBP and inFamous. I already had inFamous on disc, but tempted to get it again. So in that case should I go for Dead Nation or LBP?

Fun game, especially in coop :)

I've also just seen it mentioned that the password reset is only good for 24 hours, so after that you need to request another new password. The message tells you it could take up to 24 hours to receive the email. Tell me Sony didn't put a 24 hour limit on passwords and then tell people it could take 24 hours to receive them?

There doesn't appear much anyone can do based on the various posts on other forums.

This might be random fluff or it might be legit...

Yeah unfortunately microsoft only accept a small number of emails per hour from senders so you have to set up quite a slow MTA for hotmail.com addresses as so not to get blacklisted by them! It's a pain in the arse considering how much more flexible gmail and yahoo are.

Sorry there wasn't more I could do to help. :(

This is just a shambles now, i have read about the hotmail issue and loads of people have not had a password and time has gone well past 24 hours

I think i'm going to cut my loses with this one, played enough GT5 to get it out of my system - if only i could find out if i have a card associated with the machine before i return it to sender

Bah! I'd read somewhere that Super Stardust HD was going to be one of the free games

US and Germany only, but if Sony don't region lock the deals you'll be able to download it via your US account. (if you have a US account which was created before April 20th)

I'm also hoping it is scaremongering about the whole "don't try to request a password 3 times in 24 hours, or they deactivate your account". I could well have clicked 3 times while trying out the links posted on the net :/

Out of curiosity - and I'm sure it won't come to this - if a new account had to be made can I still access the same game saves from my normal account?

edit: and thanks for the links Sarge.

I haven't read all 16 pages yet, but a quick look at the following site suggests that's just silly scaremongering.

http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2011/05/16/email-password-reset-notice/

It certainly won't come to that and even if it did, a quick call to Sony CS should see your account reactivated with no problems.

:)

You seem tense. What would you have preferred then?

Don't worry, that will surely be nonsense.

I'm pretty pleased with the selection. Infamous looks a bit grey but fun and Dead Nation co-op looks pretty sweet.
