Jesus there is no pleasing some chumps.

I'm just being realistic. Next year Microsoft and Sony are likely to unveil their next gen machines. Now if Wii 2 were to release end of 2011 and not 2012 then it'd be a big deal. To be honest I'm not sure why they're even showing it this year.

Nintendo should announce their console at the same time as the others announce theirs? You're super intelligent today!

At the end of the day it makes no difference. The general public, the bulk of whom aren't interested in E3 anyway, aren't going to suddenly rush out and place their 'pre-orders'. The Wii was shown 6 months before release.

Whats really interesting to me is that the Blu Ray drive will be backwards compatible with GC and Wii discs, which means this system ought to be able to play those games natively, which is awesome! No emulation crap like the 360 and PS3 use to play their last gen games.

Erm, the model of the optical drive doesn't determine how backward compatibility is implemented.

(Eh, you're commenting on another fictional 'spec' anyway.)

After further reading from other forums, its likely these specs are rubbish -- BUT - if it is indeed backwards compatible with GC and Wii discs, I'd bet the farm that it would be fully backwards compatible.

Lets see what happens today, I'm sure it'll all be very underwhelming... :coffee:
