UK Games Expo

I expect most conventions to fall by the wayside this year - it’s probable there will still be social distancing in effect for the remainder of 2020 and events like UKGE, comiccons, Tabletop Scotland etc don’t really lend themselves well to that

There is a virtual expo happening this weekend. If you're someone who goes for the demos and such, there are a lotttt of events planned. For people who just wander around buying stuff and then sit and eat some food and then wander around and buy some more stuff, ie. me, I'm not sure if there's anything.

It starts tomorrow at 6pm, anyway.

EDIT: I'll add a few things that look interesting:

I also appreciate the fact that there is still an event called Pandemic Demonstrations.

I've got a stand. I'm not sure what will be worse- loads of interest and technical problems, or no interest. I'm expecting both. Still, if you're not doing anything and fancy looking at a virtual implementation of Die of the Dead with wonky physics that stop it from working here's the link! https://www.ukgamesexpo.co.uk/events/?query=die+of+the+dead&time=0&time=1440&category=14&tickets_remaining=0

Also I'm giving away stuff on my stand so swing by.

I will definitely try and remember to swing by tomorrow! :)

I tried for an hour or so as a punter, and I think that statement applies to us as a group too. There's so much content across the site it's difficult to know where to start. Instead I just got sad I wasn't wandering around a hall and the creeping realisation I'm missing my friends more than I realized sunk in.

Yeah, it was simultaneously really impressive and a bit of a mess. I did want it to go well, both for the fact that they are probably in need of some income and the fact it’d be a fun second event for the year in the future.

But I think maybe it was a bit too defensive, OMG we must do everything, when it would have benefited from either being more spread out or more focused.

Got tickets moved on from last year, should get my second dose of the vaccine a couple weeks before so thinking I'll be good to go. Just need to get accommodation sorted!

I've been umming and ahhing over this year's show since they announced the dates. I was gutted when it was cancelled last year but I don't know if I'm ready to attend a huge event just yet. I was hoping to flog a few things at the bring & buy, but that's not happening this year. :(

I'm sure there'll be an in-person trade organised on BGG, but I know how nice it feels to sell a bunch of games to finance some more...

We're exhibiting, and honestly, I'm really excited to get back to conventions. This may well be the only one I get the chance to attend this summer, so I want to enjoy it. After that, there's probably not going to be another until PAX Unplugged, what with Essen highly likely to be cancelled.

My fiancée bought me and my friend tickets for my birthday last year so they've carried forward and that's me just booked our hotel this morning. Just went for the IBIS at the airport as it was relatively cheap compared to others I could see. Never been to UKGE before, nor any convention of that size for that matter, only the two Scottish ones which I think are probably tiny by comparison. Very exciting.

Ooof. Suprised by that, I'm guessing they're evaluating their ability to police the show. Still going mind (have to at t his point). I'll be wearing a mask, sanitising my hands, and keeping as distant as I can (not got too much furniture on my stand to make some space. Let's see how that works.
