Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen - Nintendo Switch Release April 23

Send which ever, not done much of the thief stuff.

Docs pawn is pretty much a permanent member of my party. She does like picking up everything, greedy little thing.

And agreed this game is totally a gateway drug into Monster Hunter.

capcom have finally cracked a western MH game, it has the same hunter gatherer feel to it.

I think the way they've done it, is make the game single player focused. I know that's all I wanted out of a MH.

I dunno I found MHT a lot different. Kinda slower paced and harder to understand. This suits me far more at the moment, I like the feel of the movement and combat.

I'd say they're massively different.

This game is brilliant! No two ways about it.

I had several moments when I thought that. What part did you get to when you wrote that?

Just finished the game, loved it, but it was far too easy. For a second run through would you recommend using NG+ or starting from scratch for the tougher challenge?

If it wasn't for the enthusiasm of the people in this thread I never would have heard about this gem, so many thanks.

NG+ is no harder so you will be twatting enemies who you found tough on your first run.

The game can be made easy or it can be made harder by yourself. You don't have to recruit two extra pawns, just have you and your main pawn (and as someone once said, you could always thrown your main pawn off a cliff and adventure by yourself). Having a good Mage with you makes things a lot easier as it does away with you having to manage the health of your party, and certainly reduces the need for making potions, so don't have a Mage. Also try changing you vocation to something that you're not really comfortable with (I never play a character who just carries a huge slow swinging sword/hammer so I tried out being a Warrior yesterday and I find it much more challenging, especially when fighting the big beasts). Hell, you could try going out as a gang of four of the same vocation (four Sorcerers should be fun, two Sorcerers would be tough) and see how you get on.

That's what I do like about this game, you can change your vocation and that of your team whenever you want, no need to restart a game from scratch.

Same here. I could tell I liked it even before I'd hamstrung the cyclops then climbed onto his head to smash him to bits.

Enjoyed the travel, feeling, little quests. And the traversal includes how you can climb a bit.

Also enjoy Rook and his stupid comments. "I'll have that!" I bet you will.

Great game, just gets better and better. Finding lots of ore etc but can't find out how to smith?

Unless I've been missing out on a huge portion of the game I don't believe there's a Smith to make you weapons/armour, they're things you either buy or find. The ore is a combinable material that you can do yourself like you can with any other ingredient/material, and like those you can either combine to make certain things or use them at the Armourer to enhance your weapons/armour.

Caxton "the masterworks all" (Gran Soren)

Reynard (wanders from encampment/ devil fire grove camp/ Gran Soren and possibly somewhere else)

And there's a guy at The Greatwall who can do it as well.

Souki is now back as a curative mage if anyone requires her services, now with 15% shorter induction times thanks to her sorcery training :)

I never play as a Mage/Sorcerer/Druid in any RPG, I always mean to but prefer the sword/shield type person. In this I've been a Strider->Ranger->Fighter->Warrior so I thought I'd go halfway and try a Magic Knight. I've got a Archmage staff that I can summon lightening onto three enemies/hit points, I can conjure and shoot a fireball, and produce a field of cold around me that damages/freezes enemies who get close. My staff also fires several small ice blasts but this changes to much larger fireballs when my Mage pawn enchants my staff and "grants me fire!". I can also enchant my shield with fire/lightning so if an enemy hits it they go flying backwards with that elemental damage. Finally I can use the staff to twat enemies if I need to. It's a whole new experience for me and I am loving this new way of fighting. When I finish leveling this vocation up I'm going to try a full on Sorcerer and raining unholy hell down from above.

The game area always looks small on the map, then I see there is another zoom layer. So much for thinking this bloody escort mission is going to be a breeze, I'm fucked if I don't get back before night right.

The night time has never bothered me. As long as I've got oil in the lamp it's exp harvesting. Ive only died a handful if times playing this, still fun though.

Yeah I never made it to night time, got bummed by some invisible lizards. Only level 18 and I'm not using other pawns.

Changed my pawns vocation today so he's now a grizzled old ranger and only retained Karzees Sasha who is doing sterling work in the healing department. The other replacement fighter pawn has a nice line in bragging dialogue.

Game of the Year for me. Absolutely loving it.

My pawn, Heisenberg, has been out a couple of times with forum members I can't recall who. But thanks!

I don't think I'm on the spreadsheet, if you could add me that would be great.

You can edit the spreadsheet yourself, it has editing rights for everyone. This is so you can update it when you need too. I would add you but I don't konw which format you are playing it on. Btw the link in in the sig :)

In my game she fell off a cliff and i couldn't get her back (having to play off line) :(

Got some new Mages robes for my pawn. Under all that clobber she's wearing a corset and thong. :eyebrows:

I was tempted to send her down the sorcery route, but some of the bigger spells send the screen into pure chaos which is well off-putting. That plus her healing and buffing abilities are top-notch, so i didn't bother.

I also have Ploppy's pawn in tow. I needed a low(er) level archer, and the name 'Qwym' made me chuckle, so it was a no-brainer.

The game keeps on giving. Shame it doesn't let you know how long you've been playing. I'm curious.

After being pretty much untouchable for ages, the Salomet quest was a bit of an eye opener. The archers tore me a new one quick sharp.

I'm still rocking your Yuria Curtis as that healing magic of hers does wonders :)

I'm also back to an all girl group again as I ran into Janet again and now I have all the archer vocations and a mage in one party :)

Though I wish I could switch between my cutlass and daggers a bit easier.

I've just done the Griffin bit and absolutely loving it still :)

It does mate, in one of the statistics screens.

Aah! Thank you. :)

Wowzers! 50 hours already. Those that've completed it; did you check how long you'd clocked?

Cheers dude, duly Added. I'm on xbox btw.

I'm nearing the end of NG+, this time I'm aiming to spend a lot more time exploring after the first ending and in Everfall. in particular trying to get to grips with the Ur Dragon :o
