There's already a "symbol" for the controller or whatever they announce tomorrow, O+O. You'll click that to get in and see the announcement. Surely the sun isn't just another picture of the controller? It's got to be something else. It's been "powering up" since last week.

I think the general consensus was that it's probably a controller. It's referenced in the beta terms and conditions that there's a controller prototype, there's a patent flying around, etc.

I think it might be Source 2 Half Life 3.

I'm keen to see the controller, but if that's what Friday's announcement is, that might be a bit of an anticlimax?

I can't help but feel that they need to learn from Apple and not announce anything until it's actually ready. "Here's the new iPhone, pre-orders open as soon as we finish showing you why you want one."

Whereas this week has basically amounted to "we're still going to do the thing that we've already talked about, you can't have one yet and here are no specifics."

OK, there is a bit more detail than there was before, but I mean - they don't have a SteamOS build for us to download and try out, or even any screenshots. They talk about Steam Machines but there are not even any hardware mockups to look at, etc.

(In any case, the actual machines are probably the least interesting part of the announcement. All it is is "[Dell] will be selling computers with a Steam sticker on them" really).

All that being said, I'm still actually quite excited.

Hopefully tomorrow's announcement actually will be an Apple-esque "here's the Steam controller - in stores on Monday."
