F-Zero GX Time Trial runs are the Steve Vai of these events. Mind blowing for about thirty seconds and then keeps going for another hour and a half.

Ah I think you're mad. There's something really heartwarming about watching a nerd that's devoted their life to replaying a Spider-Man tie in that released a decade before the were born get cheered on by a crowd. I went through school just before the whole geek chic thing kicked off so it's lovely to see someone playing Mario 64 in a blindfold as 50 people basically shout THIS HAS VALUE! 

 

I still really love AGDQ and SDGQ but definitely think you miss part of the appeal without the crowd.

This is my first time watching an ESA event. It might feel like a slightly less polished GDQ but for all intents and purposes it's the same thing. If you liked GDQ you'd be doing yourself a disservice not to be watching this as well.

 

Perhaps because it's Europe-based, there seems more of a focus on PC stuff which gives it some variety over GDQ as well. Of the ones I've managed to catch so far Titanfall 2 was pretty interesting - that good blend of a game you can follow along with a commentary that explains it all while making it look far easier than it is!

Karl Jobst's latest video is a good one: it's about a turret manipulation trick in GoldenEye's Aztec on 00 Agent:

 

 

He should do a video about the Aztec level's other main strategy, where you manipulate the guards to get them to open the glass door, saving you from having to go and kill Jaws first. Back when I used to time attack GE, it's a trick that I always found really unreliable to get to work.

There's a dev reacts video to Returnal and its way more boring than you would expect, just running around for 90 percent of the run and only gated by the bosses and obligatory rooms, which get cleared very fast. Might be more interesting with commentary though to see how they manage the RNG in the speed run.
