I was fully expecting an Edge Saints Row 2 style "Swearing and silliness in my FPS? Games are art don't'cha'know!" 5/10, so hats off to them.

Anyway, they gave a bunch of Nintendo games less than 11/10. Gee whiz, I wonder how this thread will go down.

It could well be. Edge's word is in no way gospel or even accurate a lot of the times.

5/10 for Borderlands, Saint's Row 2, Dragon Age.

There are loads of superb videogames that have only achieved a middling score from Edge.

...and the converse too. Lots of real turds have been praised by this magazine.

I've enjoyed a lot of Nintendo games that have received Edge [6]s, but PilotWings Resort does sound worryingly slight, especially for someone who spent a lot of time with Wii Sports Resort's Island Flyover mode. Hopefully it's a dry run for a MotionPlus PilotWings on Wii later in the year.

I said I'd have given Bulletstorm a 9, so it's nice to see that reflected, most places gave it an 8. I can only assume they spotted the heavy amount of satire and metaphor that lots of reviewers somehow completely missed (or at least didn't mention).

The rumblings of pilotwings being so insubstantial do not do much to combat the arguments from the iPhone game proponents.

Homefront - 5? :( Disappointing as I was looking forward to the singleplayer. I'll have to hope it's a business-as-usual Edge fuckup. I notice they have a Danny Bilson interview, so perhaps they went low on the score to avoid any appearance of bias.

I think it has more to gain from being in 3D and available on a handheld where it can be played in quick bursts than it does from being on a console with motion controls, so I'll be disappointed if that's the case.

Oh bollocks, Pilotwings isn't made by nintendo.... it's made by Monster Games of Excite Truck and Excite Bots "fame".

I really didn't like Excite truck.

Yeah I didn't like it either. But Pilotwings plays well it just lacks content. Certainly not a premier launch title for first party.

Wish I could have played Excitebots :(

It does indeed, but given that's not what's happened here surely more Pilotwings rather than less is a good thing, no? Especially given that a 3DS sequel would seem at this stage to be less likely.
