We got into competition with that Nike thing we did last year (

).

So I'm going to go. Our student film won a crystal there 5 years ago and I haven't really been able to go back due to money things. Which means that I am beyond excited to go. It's an amazing festival...

Waaah yeah. Durocher won't let you book til the middle of this month. We're just sorting out a villa and working out how to get our bikes out there. Have you been before? The festival is one of my favourite things ever.

Did you see there were only two UK student films in comp' this yeah?

I can't wait to play on the lake and get drunk and sleep in screenings :D

Yeah I went in my first year at Uni. Can't wait to go back! We got an apartment sorted round the corner from the festival which is good. Eurostar is the same we aren't allowed to book online until later this month. Yeah tell me about it! We have won best student film in the uk for the past two years yet they still didn't get into annecy! My birthday is actually in the middle of the festival so we really plant take full advantage of the cheap wine. Plus the place that sells the MASSIVE burger! Hope it's still there lol

What comp was that in rts? How come you guys aren't camping at belle va deer or whatever it was called? Drink times for birthday on a pedlo I hope?

I did my degree in newport. Ultra rivalry :P we won the Annecy student awards two year in a row :P I think we did a few rts's too. I know it was definitely two. Waaah friendly rivalries. :)

Our villa is a bit out of the old town. It's close to MIFA but we're going to have bikes with us so it'll be sweet.

So will you have graduated by then?

Yeah I do believe it was the rts we won with "great race" 2 years ago and "lullaby" last year.

I would love to go to this :) I suppose the town is absolutely packed to the rafters though? Maybe one year I'll be able to go.

It is pretty packed during the festival but it's a fantasic atmosphere there not to mention gorgeous place with brilliant weather! And I highly recommend you going minkee it's the perfect place to promote your work!

I can't even consider it at the moment, due to £££, but I really would love to. I went there as part of a family holiday when I was a kid (not when the festival was on, if it even existed back then) and I remember it being a proper fairytale little place. Getting to see all those great animations too would make it just amazing :D

I went there twice while I was a student studying my BA Hons Animation. Lovely place - first visit was sunshine and optimism, second visit was using my portfolio to shelter from the thunderstorms after realising no one was recruiting. I would love to go there again one day, very happy memories.

Was the thunderstorm year like 2005? That's the really rainy one I remember. I just let myself get wet with a barrel of cheap french wine in the end. Though I did sit under the sound desk in the park for a while. I also remember us all shouting at the sky walking back the the tent due to the ridiculous heaviness of it. I've miss the last two due to no cash so this time I'm extra excited.

We got our rep shmoozing in Annecy.

1999 was the thunderstorm for us - we went before in 1997 and really enjoyed it. I think the best thing about the '97 trip was rubbing shoulders with representatives from the major animation companies in swanky lounges. Ah, memorrriieeeees. Funny thing is that thanks to me not getting any animation-based work in 2001, I ended up being a games developer. I still sometimes look back and think what could have been.
