So we went out for drinks last night for my housemate's leaving do, and we were joined by this new guy who was meant to be replacing her. It was pretty clear early on that he fancied one of my other housemates and was trying to get her alone for most of the night. She wasn't interested and was a bit uncomfortable, so whenever he'd leave for a bit she'd get someone else to come and sit next to her. I ended up taking this role towards the end of the night. So he went to the terlet, I was summoned to fill the seat, and when he came back he seemed fine. We were all talking a lot of shit and laughing and having a grand old time. He said something funny, and in my drunken state I went to give him a fist bump. Don't know why, I guess I'm just a bit more gangster when drunk. Anyways, I did this, and he proceeded to punch me in the hand as hard as he possibly could, to the point that he broke the skin and my hand still hurts like all hell this morning. I ended up leaving shortly after that because I had the convenient excuse of another friend's housewarming party to go to, and then received messages from the rest of the house saying that they'd all agreed he wouldn't be a good fit.

Point is, I was the victim of alpha male posturing and now my hand hurts and I wanted to play Streetfighter at the SFO house session this morning. Rubbish.

Dark Souls is on sale for under 4quid from xbox live Games on Demand today. I think you'd like it Curtis; give it a try.

For anyone who doesn't have it and still thinks 4quid is too much of a risk for a game you might not like, you're welcome to my disc copy.

Don't suppose you know if it's the Prepare to Die one at all? A chance of playing it without my xbox sounding like it's going to take off would be worth £4 fo' sho'.

Wouldn't installing your disc copy also accommodate that requirement?

Ugh guys, I had what Robert W Chambers termed "soft shell crab dreams" all last night. Considering I read The King In Yellow yesterday, I have two more nights of torment followed by an eternity of madness to look forward to. Bad times guys.

Does anyone have days where you just suck at this game? I just lost 9 out of 11 ranked matches, going from 3,300PP and ending at 2,700BP. Yesterday I beat Louffy and today I couldn't beat anyone half-decent. Frustrating really as I've been putting in the hours to get ready for the next SFO tournament and was feeling confident.

Maybe I'm playing to much?

I think there's only so much you can take from ranked match performance - you don't know how you might have adjusted in a second game, you don't know whether your opponent will feel any pressure, you almost definitely have zero foreknowledge of how they'll play. Plus sometimes you just get a bad run of luck, which is deadly in a one-game setting. I mean, you can still benefit from thinking about how you're playing and how good your decisions and stuff were during the fight, but I don't think you stand to gain much from looking at whether you actually ended up winning or losing. Maybe watch some of those 9 losses back on the replay channel and see if you actually played badly or just caught a few bad breaks.

I play a lot worse when I'm tired, though - maybe you just need to get to bed earlier!
