Cale, there's a ladder you can climb to take out the archers before you trigger the boss fight.

If you summon and die then yes, you need to spend more humanity to become human again before you can summon again.

Yes, you can beat that dude without help! Remember to spend your first couple of tries learning his attacks and when he's open for counterattacks.

You can also use the falling attack if you can make it back up the ladder after summoning him.

Aaargh! I just watched you both play a bunch of that. The second to last match was an absolute epic! Haha, such wonderful grass caution from Mr Yellow and constant back and forth drama. The point where Mr Yellow almost made off to the right only to die from a sword throw bouncing off the wall in front was wonderful. And then in the last match where there were three consecutive door open/close clashes of swords. And all the rolling and dive-kicking and dancing and Real Turner the Worming. What an excellent looking game.

I thought we'd played about three games but I see the archive is an hour long!* It's such a fun game.

*We had already played for ages before Donut started streaming, and I had already played for ages again Imp before that.

So I went to the tournament in Huddersfield. It was Vanilla SF4 on PS3 on pads and nobody knew how to play except myself and SFO Brylarke. I won, he took second, so I'mcurrently hauling the case of beers I won back to Leeds. Quite a good laugh; Vanilla SF4 is always a good time. Also playing video games in a bar setting is usually fun too.

Been playing a lot of fighting games, I'm shit at every street fighter game I play but I'm pretty decent at Guilty Gear and KOF. My Uni's gaming league is doing some 72 hour charity thing at the end of the month, I'm doing planning on doing 20 fighting tournaments over the 3 days.

(KEY: Dark green = xbox original or emulated via xbox, light green = 360, grey = PC, purple = Gamecube)

Can't wait really though I'm worried that all anyone will play is divekick, smash bros and street fighter because those are the only games anyone seems to give a toss about. I'm hoping to stream the entire thing on twitch but I've been experimenting just now and I think I'm going to have to ask around for help if I want this thing to be perfect with constant streaming and commentary and live cam and shit.

Thats always the way you have a good idea but you have no idea how you are going to pull it off.

I did it!

Ha, I didn't pick Sagat, no. Was sorely tempted though. Ended up using Ryu and Chun. I played everyone in casuals, though. I enjoyed revisiting all the stuff from Vanilla that does absurd damage, like Sagat, Zangief, EX Snake Strikes etc. A lot of the matches feel closer to Super Turbo because a combo and then another big-ish hit can be the dizzy and the round even when you're not using a particularly high damage character. Everything hurts in that game. Also the weird properties on certain moves that feel totally alien now were quite surprising to try out. Ryu's EX tatsu in particular is a fucking mess in vanilla. I'd love Vanilla SF4 to be a side tournament at a U.S. major, I think it'd be very entertaining indeed.

Mr. AJ, seriously, come to the SFO tournament at the end of the month. I can offer a place to stay if it helps. Also we only have clangers from Teesside as our T. Hawk representative and he's a massive fraud.

I am going to play some nidhogg this week. I am excited because you gents are men of taste and seem most pleased with it.

Thanks for the kind offer mate. I have been planning on attending all month. Myself and Infexious have been in the training room as a result. Infexious' Dudley, Guile and Ryu are as scary as ever and he's still best player I have ever seen using anti-airs, Daigo aside. He's still rusty on his combos and links though so I wouldn't expect a major impact if he does attend. The main problem I have is my pad is wireless and I'd have to use a charging cable which I assume is not allowed? I love the D-Pad and as far as I'm aware you can't get a wired version with this particular D-Pad :(

Is the tournament still held at Patriot Games then?

I'm considering quitting my job so I can play Nidhogg all day.

Sith, he's probably just ignoring you because he's a bad person. They have a facebook group, I'll send you the link in case you want to ask there ahead of time.

Alistarr is right. I am the worst. It is still a patriot games yeah, though we're shopping around for a bigger venue soon as it's growing from month to month and we won't fit soon. I actually don't think your cable would be a problem. Never seen Ty make a ruling on that. That's great that you're coming down, should have a decent Teeside and Bradford turn out this time, plus hopefully some MBA folks. There are even some guys from London talking about attending this one or the February event.

The feb one has been dubbed a "road to Hypespotting" event, with free venue/tournament entry and seeding at Hypespotting up for grabs. Hopefully it'll be the biggest SFO monthly so far.

You meanie :( So I have been to Patriot Games in Sheffield many times to play in Yugioh events and I'm tring to picture how the setups work! Must be tight on space in there. I'm currently working on my 2nd character (Ryu) in an attempt to at least have a plan B if I face a good Blanka, Honda, Juri, Gouken, Chun-Li and Cody. They are the match-ups I struggle with the most if the player is good. Looking forward to it now! What time does it normally finish? There are some really cheap returns after 7PM!

Yeah, Ghost plays a very strong Honda but I've seen him struggle against grapplers because he plays super aggressive and is often too stubborn to change gears to suit a match up. For Chun there is myself and also a guy who goes by Broken_Chun on XBL. I'd say his neutral game isn't as good as mine but he does have cr. fierce xx legs combos. The bastard.

If Shaun comes down from Teeside he plays a very tricky Blanka and runs Chun as his second. Hawk's worst nightmare right there.

We have a decent Juri, but again I don't think he'd do well against your Hawk as you have to play the match up and he's a bit set in his ways. If MetallicMike comes his Juri is more likely to be a problem. Nobody in the same league of sheer patience and immaculate zoning as WyWyWyWy though.

We have a very strong Cody player in terms of pressure, execution, frame traps and such but he tends to get annihilated by Gief players because he doesn't have the rocks/boots/ruffian lame game down. Cody can't do any of the stuff he wants to against grapplers; he's almost a different character in those matches, at least if he's to have a hope of winning.

Don't believe we have any Gouken players, though again Teeside has a couple and one of them is rather good.

Oh, and whilst slightly intoxicated and tired at the last SFO House gathering, we have decided that SFO will create a mythical player who doesn't actually exist but will be represented at every tournament. One of us will sign up as "SFO Dragonman" at every non-Leeds tournament we attend. A different player every time. Ideally if they're running Marvel and AE we'd have one in each, so they might both get on stream and clearly be different people. People will be all like "I'm playing Dragonman next? Who does he use?" And nobody will be able to give a straight answer. Dragonman is everybody and he is nobody. Ideally if there's a tournament with no SFO attendees we'd get a friend of SFO to rock the purple t-shirt and sign up as SFO Dragonman regardless. I got far too into this idea when mashed but I still think it could be mildly amusing now. I've offered to do it at Hypespotting. I imagine I'll forget I've done it, miss the call for my match and get DQ'd, which would also be an excellent result.

Yeah we got some Bipsons. Alistarr seems to fight nothing but Bipson when he comes to SFO tournaments. Three who attend regularly, all quite solid but all beatable I'd say. Oh, one of our strongest players mains Sagat, so that could be annoying too. Oh, and Domihy's Guile is tough to crack. Yet to see him lose to a grappler. I just want to see Sith/Clangers T. Hawk mirrors on stream.
