Haha, yes, I have that sometimes. Ranked can be so awful. You spend ages playing jellum and being sensible and expecting him to be sensible and then suddenly you play ranked and get Ghandi'd by someone who has a terrible connection and will NOT stop jumping.

I did some ranked last night and it was horrible. I played this laggy french oni who, whenever you were both on low health, would go something like blocked slash, blockstring, crossup ex slash. It got me in the first 2 rounds, but for once I remembered someone's tendencies and managed to block it. I went for a punish and he hit me with a mashed ex dp. I rather wanted to die.

Which reminds me. If capcom are giving oni FADC uppercut on block then at least make his uppercuts recover a bit more slowly. They can be such a pain to punish sometimes.

Hungbee makes Hugo look a tiny bit more useful than initially suggested, but he looks like the least finished of the new characters by some distance. His splash in particular looks extremely weak, so his post-SPD game is very limited. The strategy does seem to be landing the corner carry grab and then going nuts with clap pressure though, so perhaps post SPD vortex isn't the plan for him at all. Pleased to see Hungbee beasting with buffed Ted Hawk; Hung deserves a better character for being so good.

Personally I'm most interested in Poison. Combofiend almost word for word had the same opinion as me on SFXT Poison and I completely agree that she's a much better fit for this game. I had an idea of how she'd be played in my head, and Gootecks using her at the location test delivered exactly that. A vaguely Chun/Yang/Rose-esque ground game (which is what I'm all about) and then delicious meaty fireball mix ups. Gootecks was doing the exact mix ups I pictured off a meaty fireball and it got me very excited about playing her. Oh, and I didn't think they'd let you special cancel her crouching fierce, but you can, so you can do 'Sim/Oni style normal anti-air xx fireball to establish pressuere/spacing. Lovely stuff.

Awesome games to Camel last night in a 3 and a half hour set! Also awesome games to Donut and Alistarr yesterday. Spent a total of 6 and quarter hours playing those 3 wonderful Street Fighters yesterday.

Is it wrong to want more?

What do you mean you got Guiled? Goddamn Dhalsim. He may be my new nemesis!

:)

So who's around later this afternoon and tonight for more fightings?

I think I got Guiled more than you got Dhalsimed. And I definitely got Guiled far, far more than you got Ryued and Abeled.

Ryu is just not working for me at all. I think I lack the reflexes to pump out the correct combo on reaction. Don't get old, guys. It sucks.

Also, getting in with Abel was a massive headache. And then I dropped loads of stuff once in. Rubbish hands.

Daaaaamn, I didn't want to interrupt Ig and Sith in case they were FT10ing so I started an endless battle instead and ended up playing some ridiculously tense games against a 10k Zangief called jokerT1000. Nine of the longest rounds I've played this year.

Oh man, it was £3.74 in the sale that just finished I think. Don't worry, it'll be that price again during the Holiday Sale in a week or two. Or maybe Joffo will send you one of the thousands of spares he's no doubt amassed.

AND THEN WE WILL FIGHT!

Every time people talk about not playing games they've got on Steam I feel a pang of shame about not having played Chivalry since Nate bought me a copy. Is that a year ago? That's a lot of references to not playing games people have got on Steam. Maybe we should play it one day, PC brethren.

I would like to AE PSN some people some time as I purchased it in the sale. People who I can't play on the Xbox version, obviously. I also bought Divekick and The Unfinished Swan. Also my Wii U arrived today but I have been at the German Christmas market and don't have time to play it before bed now. I am very excited about Mario 3D World-ing tomorrow.

I am enjoying this footage so very much:

My goodness that jump is glorious. Probably too good in all honesty, though even if they tone that down but keep the other buffs I'd be very happy indeed

That player makes Chun's legs combo look so very easy. :(

In other news, I've been playing Link Between Worlds which is just the most delightful piece of anything I've played in years. I've gone off single player games in recent times but it has reminded me why I'll never stop gaming.

Probably something along the lines of it basically being impossible to approach a down-back vega with 1 bar, since he's got the best pokes in the game and if you try to jump in he can just ex st you. Delayed wake up is also a buff to his wakeup game, so he'll probably be pretty strong with this option. Though crossups will still mess him up I guess.

If they're going to give it invincibles then they could at least slow down the startup a bit.

I think I might just be able to hold out for an AE Steam sale. I'll have plenty of backlog to chow through when the PC turns up anyway, including a little game called Half Life 2 that I pre ordered and pre loaded all of those moons ago. I'll also be on the lookout for indie things too, so recommend me up!

Also, PSN AE. Yes. If you see me playing a game that isn't AE just yell at me until I boot it up. I can also possibly cameo as Cody's Ting on Live too.

It'll massively change some matchups. Using ryu v sim as an example, ryu being able to safejump sim off a sweep and then OS a backdash/teleport with tatsu. This is pretty big for ryu, because when he gets in he needs to be able to stay in. But if sim delays the wakeup then the attempted OS will come out before he wakes up. Delayed wakeup will probably mean that option selects are pretty much impossible from a lot of setups too.

Not that it's a bad thing, because option selects are sort of dumb, but there's going to be a lot of changes to some matchups.
