Ultra Street Fighter IV

I still can't do the OS! I tried again after I posted that. So in total that's 45 genuine, full-quality minutes of my life entirely wasted. No refunds.

Took me longer than that just solidly trying over and over to get it the first time. Took me about 30mins to get it the second time, and the same for the third.

I possibly should've tried with a different character than Guile, but I was sure it could work. And I was right.

I spend a LOT of time in the training room.

Just had a quick think about possibly the fifth character and cam up with these

Ada Wong - from Resident Evil, though probably more likely for the next MVC

Asura - from Asura's Wrath as his game is already steeped in SF-ness and the DLC has him fighting Ryu and Akuma.

Chuck Greene - from Dead Rising 2 as Frank is in MVC

Kaede - from Onimusha could be a bit like Ibuki

On another note I got Blankat today :)

69/81 for me. Fell down on SFI and EX (I never played EX2 or EX3)

Aaargh. I got 60. Missed three from the original Street Fighter:

Retsu, Mike and Lee

and only guessed a single one from the EX games, having never played them before. Looking at the list of characters when they were revealed I still don't think I would have recognised the names and been able to guess the game.

I got 31. I fucking give up. It was horribly sketchy on my phone, and ridiculously specific in places. Wouldn't accept bison, had to be m.bison. wouldn't accept Doctorine Dark, had to be D.Dark. Then my phone liked to input the last thing I typed on top of the new thing.

I'm so fucking annoyed right now.

Unfortunately Asura was heavily denied almost immediately, I think by Ono.

Shame 'cos he was my top pick. I would LOVE Asura to be in Ultra. That game is soooo good.

The DLC fights against Ryu and Akuma are amazing, too.

You sir have excellent taste :) I too am a fan of the mighty Asura's Wrath, even if you have to buy DLC to get the true ending, but oh what a great ending.

I think Go was a serious martial artist.

Apparently red focus only absorbs two hits in this build?

Lots of character details at that link - I haven't pasted stuff here just because it looks like they'll be updating it over the weekend.

Apparently there's an extra frame of recovery on Rufus' divekick :-(

Only absorbs two hits and the third hit is a counter hit. Hmm. It doesn't seem worth the risk then, really?

Dan builds meter with his taunts and FADC into his Ultra 2 does full damage now apparently. That's pretty good. They also say his Dan Kicks will hit crouching opponents and I guess that seems good but I'm worried it might mess up a few of his tricky gimmicks. Hopefully crossup Dan Kicks are still possible without having to use his non-armour-breaking airborne one.

Chun Li's jump being changed from 41 frames to 36 sounds like quite a difference. Is that just more in line with the other characters' jumps? EX Hazanshu breaking armour will be a good think for breaking red focus on reaction.

EX Yoga Blast now causes soft knockdown for Dhalsim. Does that mean he'll lose a bunch of setups, like that hilarious EX Yoga Flame crossup taunt one? I guess hard knockdowns allowing for delayed wakeup meant that kind of thing would be lost anyway?

I like that they've slightly increased the damage on Dudley's target combos. I like seeing them.

I can already tell Elena is going to be infuriating.

  • df.HK - Advantage on block -3 > +2
  • EX Scarlet Terror - Startup Invincibility 0f > 4f
  • U1 - bigger hitbox
  • U2 - startup 8f>5f
  • EX roll - Advantage on block 0>+4
  • Mask Pickup - Down+PP

Vega is going to be a monster.

I... I think this KIM1234_ALL_DAY person on twitter just tested and confirmed that Vega's cr.mk > Ultra 2 legitimately combos? Woah.
