Ugh. Just got done with a lovely 2 days of replacing a couple if bits and rebuilding my pc from the ground up.

The physical build is easy. Why does formatting and software build take so goddamn long?

Anyway. Am done. Now I can get back to childrens games.

Anyone around for an hour or so of punchy face man?

I've not had a chance to play GTA V online since it went live (though from the sounds of things not many people have) due to wild Oktoberfesting but I've went and updated the rank names temporarily while we wait on someone (Camel) thinking of something funnier. Also I chose the Up Yours gesture because of its similarity to Dan's crouching taunt, rather than the intended sentiment, of course.

Just a friendly note to anyone who might be behind on their stream monstering and looking to cut corners: do not bother watching the World Game Cup that happened this weekend. Had I not also been making delicious enchiladas at the same time as watching it, it would've been a near-complete waste of two hours of life.

I just watched the SF3 videos uploaded to youtube featuring myself, and I'm embarrassingly bad (some say I still am). It was just after I switched to using a fightpad and I could not do a standing 360 to save my life. So I played as Hugo :D

GGs to Allystah for all the IRL fighter this weekend. It's pretty absurd that we played more Strekken than AE, though I don't regret it at all as there was plenty of AE happening as well. I think it's partly that I've at least had a go at exploring all the characters I'm interested in learning in AE, whereas in Strekken there are still so many I've barely touched. Playing 50 game sets with a quick rematch button and trying to figure out what your new character should do in varioius situations, how they should punish, what their best combos are etc. is the best thing. It also helps that the character I decided to pick up is THE GREATEST FIGHTER IN THE UNIVERSE.

JLM and I were talking about this at the weekend because I was complaining about how people, myself included, play completely differently in tournament to how they play in casual sets, one recent example being when I'm playing my heart out but it turns out a certain someone's pretty much just trying to land a kara raging demon. I realised that I subconsciously do the same thing when I'm playing against people that I think I'm beating, and it's possibly a bit rude of me to be clowning around when they are trying to figure me out, but hey, nobody wants to be serious all the time. So the idea behind the new thread is that we set up occasional games where both players basically "play to win" for a defined set, and then you get certified* proper match experience and also some feedback after the event on areas you could look to improve.

So yes, please visit my new thread and if you want to get better at street fighter, call out some people you think are better than you and challenge them to a "Seriaas" set.

*No actual certificates will be issued.

Sounds excellent/terrifying. I am very guilty of falling apart if matches show any hint of being serious. Even when I get a proper read on what I suspect Jellum sees as the correct response to my expected wakeup option and punish successfully I think of it as a sort of funny comedy moment rather than a real momentum changer.

470 damage. Opponent must be standing.

AND, that's only 10 damage less than the one frame link combo:

f.HP cr.HPxLP.SRKxxSuper

And uhh, it does the exact same damage as

f.HP s.MKxLP.SRKxxSuper

And uh, well, f.HPxLP.SRKxxSuper does 440 damage anyway, so... it's pretty pointless. BUT IT IS COOL.

God I haven't played this game since we went to that Shoreditch thing where the projector screen kept falling down and I was a bit drunk and those guys got pissed off because you guys won everything and weren't all seriaas business and that girl owned everyone at SF2 and those other guys were hogging the pad and everybody admired Uzi's suit and yeah I should probably get some practice in. Who wants to get punched from the other side of the screen tonight?

I spent my last two evenings playing Rogue Legacy, and beat the first boss eventually. It was pretty good fun but I fear I may be done with it now - at least for a little while.

Think I'm going to get Volgarr the Viking next, purely on the back of it having a really good trailer on steam that basically just shows the player's character dying repeatedly.

That's very kind of you but I already have one! That's actually why I started playing Rogue Legacy - I figured I should play the annoying platformer I already bought before I got another one. But I think RL is just a bit too heavy on the levelling for my roguelike platforming tastes, and too light on the unrelenting bleakness. Also I kept forgetting to lock the castle when I found a boss door and then not being able to find it again for several turns.
