I've been preparing for Heggwest by coming to Holland, drinking a shit ton of beer (had a Westvleteren 12 today, beer geeks) and playing Galaga and air hockey in Funland at Scheveningen. I'm definitely going to win. Watch out JLM.

I will also be playing almost nothing but Pokeymans once it comes out. I am very very excited indeed. I'm glad that they're putting an embargo on information about the remaining new 'mons as I have been powerless to resist hunting down every last tiny piece of information released about the game so far.

Haha, oh my god, yes. I'm almost ashamed of how excited I am. I've been making a bi-weekly pilgrimage to serebii.net scanning the same old pages again and again for new juicy scraps of info like a 14 year old with nothing better to do. Except I'm so embarrassed about going to serebii.net I only do it in incognito mode.

And as I like to start sentences by agreeing with JLM, hell yes, special 8 crown was fantastic. A proper test of your accumulated 3DS world skill, which I'm glad was balanced for normal, rather than Tanooki suit Mario, to stop you relying on that particular crutch. I'm a little apprehensive about trying it with Luigi though, his jumps are too high and long to work surely! I suppose Luigi in a Tanooki suit might do it... hmmm. I think my favourite thing about the game might actually be how they seemed to revel in the art and colours of Mario 3 though. I loved the post cards between levels, just because the art style seemed to to echo the Mario 3 box art so closely. And the use of Mario 3 yellow on the loading and title screens was also a fantastic little touch.

Now I'm considering going back to Mario Galaxy 2... I never did get those green stars, and I've a reputation for rinsing Mario games to uphold... Can anyone tell me if the reward is worth the effort?

Also the new Danny Brown album is just as good as I had hoped.

I went and played NSBM* Wii and Mario Galaxy after finishing 3D World and it only made me appreciate both more. All three are awesome games. It's really annoying that NSMB only lets you save after specific levels, though. Galaxy is just so amazingly pretty and crazy. I haven't got Galaxy 2.

I just found out the long jump was in 3DS land after all. I swear the first thing I did was try out the long and triple jumps to see if they'd made it in the game. I'm as bad as that guy who didn't know there was a run button in Resi 4.

Also I bought Mario 3 and am now thoroughly disgusted you can't customise the controls. X for run and A for jump is an okay compromise, but it just feels weird if it's not Y to run and B to jump. Also I tried to do the 99 lives trick in 1-2 and it really hurt my thumb so I stopped.

Had a funny GTA thing happen yesterday. My photo gallery was empty, so I thought I'd get a few of my cars out of their garages and take photos of them like an obnoxious Max Power reader might. My gallery contains very dull snaps snaps of my entirely tasteless cars, punctuated by one snap of a cheeky AI motherfucker stealing one of my cars just as I'm lining up the shot. I thought the car thief might become a red blip on the radar and it'd be a little spontaneous gameplay event going to get it back, but no, he sped over the horizon and was gone forever. That photo documents the last time I ever saw that car.

I actually managed to get a session of GTA online yesterday. I went on a mission with a random to steal a car. I took a stylish shortcut through the mountains, loads of jumps and barrel rolls and shit. I let Mr random do the drive back; he tried to emulate my driving but managed to land the stolen car in the middle of a lake. When we got out of the car he pistol whipped me and I died. Apparently he pressed 'the wrong button'.

He was very apologetic about it though, so that's something.

Boo, yesterday I spoiled the Canada Cup AE finals by checking their twitch channel to see if the archives had unlocked yet and they've added a named file of the GFs to their "highlights" page which includes the player names, and today I checked SRK and one of their article titles says who won Marvel as well!

That's rubbish. They never think of the archive monsters who don't live in North America do they?

Of the seven (!!!!) recent tournaments I have yet to watch, I only know the result of two of them and I consider myself very fortunate. Canada Cup was spoiled because I attended a fighting game tournament over the CC weekend and if you can do that without having a major spoiled for you then you are a more antisocial/deaf man than I.

I consoled myself by playing SFxT for a bit. Played two ranked matches against someone even worse than me and won them both. Juri/Dudley is my team now, I think - in SFxT I can do combos with them that are almost as long as the combos you can do with them in AE.

I forgot my keys yesterday. I realised I had lost them before leaving work, so I deliberately took ages getting home so that I wouldn't be stuck waiting for housemates to get back. Turns out this was the one evening out of hundreds where all five of my housemates went straight out after work, and the earliest arrival back at the house was 8PM. On the best evening in months for uninterrupted online fightings I find myself stuck outside my house. Fuck the fuck off universe.

In happier news, I'm going to be playing lovely offline-fighter tomorrow at the top secret Team Jellistar training facility.

I didn't miss it while I wasn't playing it but playing at the Leeds tournament rekindled my enthusiasm.

Anyway, there's a fighting game party at my house on Saturday but sadly it's probably a bit far for you to travel. I might also be on later tonight if I ever escape this ill advised shopping expedition.
