Ultra Street Fighter IV

I would be proud to be a part of Plopboyz 'n' the Hood. Our crew colour is pink, yes? I would set it up but I can't get onto the rockstar website at work and my PC is sadly deceased.

PC AE would mostly be for Error1 dive kick I must admit. I don't know if I could handle adding a different version to the list of things currently chipping away at my skill level. Some of the differences in the PC version are surprisingly big. One video I saw showed that Gen can't punish blocked EX psycho crusher with ultra 1 on PC but he can on all the other versions. That's match up changing stuff right thurr.

There will be no loud music on Friday for me. Mr. Will Ho wants the team SFO road trip to Manchester to leave at 9:30 on Saturday morning and I do not want to disappoint Mr. Will ho. That said, evening fighter on Friday would be lovely if this is agreeable to you and yours. Heading over for the evening is definitely more realistic now that it only costs £6 and takes an hour to get to you. If I were to get to your endz at around half past 6 and then get a late train back that would allow for four to six hours of fighting, which is more than I have managed in the past week and a half. Do let me know.

Also, no, Heggwest isn't a srs bsns tournament, but it is an opportunity to do couple nice tings bwoi in the hopes of garnering ooh's and aah's from all the SF thread movers and shakers. I hope we can get Joffo in via satellite to do Joffo face at key moments.

I have already disappointed Mr Will Ho to the point that, after crashing out of my second Leeds tournament, he said that I had done "not too bad considering it's your first tournament". He's a lovely man so I wouldn't want to get in the way of your road trip. Check the trains and let me know - I'm not sure when the last train is but we're less than 10 minutes' walk from the station. I'm off work that afternoon so you can come as soon as you can get away (you can keep the option to stay over open if you like, just in case you suddenly panic about not having got enough practice in and need to stay up on ranked until 3am).

Everyone else is welcome too, of course*. I have no spare beds but a reasonable amount of floor space.

*EDIT: apparently not, this weekend. But usually!

I'd love to come and play with you guys if you don't mind. Also you're more than both welcome at mine too, can even stay over as my house is only a 5 min drive to the venue.

But my attendance is not looking good as they don't seem to want budge on their stance of no wireless Xbox pads and I can only use my Xbox pad which has a different D-Pad to a standard one and I've never seen a wired one.

I've even offered my Xbox for a setup so hopefully we can make it work.

...Ugh, now I have to be obnoxious and probably retract my invitation :-( really sorry, but I just got a followup text making it clear that the only reason the person I like most in the whole world is okay with me having people over to play street fighter when we'd booked a long weekend off work to relax is that it's just Jason I'm having over and she approves of Jason. So unless she decides to go out and do something else on Friday then I'm sorry, I'm obnoxious.

We should definitely do something when I'm not double booked though. Are you in central Manchester, then? And where is the venue for tomorrow and what time is it supposed to be happening? If I can get there on Saturday I could bring a wired pad for you if it's any use to you (though I guess the d-pad being different is basically the most terrifying prospect in the world for a Hawk player!)

Ah, that's good about the PC version.

I had a couple of hours without lag last night and I was rubbish. I won all my ranked matches with Chun but only by virtue of being less rubbish than the players I was against. Barely landed any combos. Sad. Did a bit better with Evil Ryu and Dudley. My execution with both of them is way, way ahead of my Chun at the moment. Will be tempted to switch to one of them or Sakura if my Chun gets murdered on Saturday.

A bit of feedback on Plopboy's match video up there. I wouldn't normally advocate jumping in like that, but you clearly had the spacing down and had safe jump timing. Train had no choice but to block. Good stuff.

I had a slightly less demoralising session yesterday. Played a long-ish set against a guy with 3,8000PP. Bit of Chun, bit of Dudley, went back and forth with wins and losses. He was playing Guy initially. He completely murdered me for two games and then I adapted and started taking wins back. Felt good.

Most pleasing moment was when he was playing as Adon and went for a LK jaguar tooth at full screen to try and bait me and I punished it with Ultra 1. One good thing about Chun's fall from grace is that people don't know/remember little specific punishes like that when they would have done during Super.

It's always the ability to beat weaker players that goes first and I find I can still hang against intermediate ones. It's still taking me too long to warm up and react on the fly though, and in a 2 out of 3 tournament setting it's going to cost me. I had an endless battle set against a Gouken player who was mashing EX parry every time I went in and it took me ages to adapt to it because I expect Gouken players to use it sparingly. If it was tournament I'd have lost and been very salty about it. I think my best chance of survival on Saturday will be to go into Bonchan mode and do nothing at all during the first game of every set to see what I'm dealing with.

Also Mr. Kimokoan has done another compilation, with helpful super slow mo to highlight the classiest moments:

The bit where he uses LK duck to go under Fei's wake up EX chicken wing and then punishes it with rolling thunder made me squeal with delight. Also counter hit standing roundhouse xx lk ducking linked into another standing roundhouse is a beautiful thing.

I actually played some Street Fighter this afternoon, as (i) a break from GTAV (ii) a celebration of being on leave until a week on Wednesday and (iii) to keep my eye in ahead of forthcoming events (Rose only, no messing around). A bit rusty to start off with, but got back into the swing of things. I beat two higher-ranked players and both times the match was recorded, which made me happy. I think I'm about as high in PP and BP as I've ever been so it'd be nice to try and scale some new heights.

Apparently there's a bit of a kerfuffle in the Valve thread, I hear they might announce a remake of Alpha 3? Something to do with a greek letter anyway.

Yo Plopboyz; I've created a snazzy/dreadful new emblem for us to rock in the hood! Also, I don't know how to invite people who aren't social club friends and the social club website is awkward and temperamental. Also I can't get the emblem to set. I dunno if it goes through some moderation or whatever. Also also, I thought the crew heirarchy was just funny names and set people I inveited as different things. You'll all be promoted to proper best humans. Anyway, here's the logo. I hope you find it to be somewhat wild. Feel free to create yer own!
