I'm currently eating an Indian meal in a restaurant and I'm try not to mention Yoga Flame or teleporting to anyone. Though I am getting more drunk and thus may break the SF nerd barrier and mention the hallowed game in polite company.

Koryuken!!

Ah, I know that feeling. Every time im on the underground and see the poster for the musical of "singing in the rain", I think "that's a divekick!", then get slightly depressed that nobody else will see it that way.

I'd post it, but I'm on my very first smartphone, and it's all I can do not to accidentally hit the self-destruct button. It's great though. I'm at lunch on my night shift, looking for all the world like I'm looking at football or cricket or Facebook or whatever it is normal people do, all while reading about a children's fighting game:)

When Ryu went to get his fortune told, the wizened gypsy lady sat him down, stared into her crystal ball, and instantly fell asleep

You could do a Strekken and use a contraction of the words, but then you'd end up saying "Ulcer 4" or something. :(

Thanks to Curtis and co. for the games last night - sorry I couldn't stick around for longer. I seemed to be on a bad losing streak anyway, and my luck only changed when I picked my fraudulent Blanka. Erm, or T.Hawk. I think the best bit was when my Fei Long was exposed and it was clear that I didn't know what I was doing, so I ended up whiffing so many flame kicks and burning meter on EX Tenshin from miles away. Stil, GGs all. :D

I imagine I'll be out this evening so I won't be around for matches unless anyone's interested in Afternoon Fighter :P

You can ultra off that, but the set up you may have seen (and the one I use since stealing it from xWAx Solid) is to knock the opponent down in the corner and start charging a focus attack. This will make a lot of players instinctively jump, at which point you dash in and do a jab dragon punch. You can then do jump back MP - > ultra or jump back MP - > super or jump back MP - > super - > ultra.

The medium punch isn't necessary in this situation, but the point of it is to set the opponent at a convenient height/angle to make sure your ultra hits. In the corner there's a higher chance of doing it too early/late because the opponent will drop down right in front of Ryu, but if you do the jump back MP you get a bit of distance and it's much easier to judge.

Ryu question: in the corner, dp > fadc dash forward > jump back mp ... does that combo into anything? I'm sure I've seen someone do that and follow it up with something.

I can't get this to connect with anything at all. Am I just mistiming it or something?

Also, is there something missing here?:

- Try and get cr. lk - > cr - > jab - > cr. fierce xx special move down

Thanks :)

No that's it, I mean try and get that combo down pat, except I don't tend to say down pat. I just end it with "down" and assume that people know what I mean because I'm awkward like that.

I just done did the corner combo in training for you:

The timing is quite tricky and it's much easier to do mid-screen with a jump towards. It's only of any use if the opponent is at an awkward height from an anti-air DP or, more importantly, for a bit of style. I wouldn't waste too much time practising it in the corner if I were you, but I hope that video helps with timing a little if you're determined to get it.

ok so I'm just being crap. I'll try again when jr is in bed. Thanks for going to the trouble of recording that. Far too kind.

The bit in your combo im confused about and thought something was missing was this bit:

cr -> jab

Also (sorry) when we played, you had a combo which you used loads. It was like 4 cr hits and ended in sweep. What was it?

Many years ago I overhead Sprint at a Manchester RB saying he'll beat his opponent easily in the next round and he was right, but now the times have changed!

Been waiting for that victory for a long time!

Camel, sorry I see what you mean now. That was a typo and I meant to just put cr. jab as in crouching jab.

So it should read: cr. lk - > cr. jab - > cr. fierce xx special move.

The low combo into sweep is simply cr. lk - > cr. jab - > cr. jab - > sweep.

Although hitting all the lights is very easy and doesn't require strict timing, try to hit them in a steady rhythm anyway as I find it gives you a much better chance of landing the sweep if you're using the jabs to set yourself first. I also plink the sweep when I remember to do it because you don't want to drop it and have Ryu's sweep blocked too often.

Wonderful photos Mr. Nuskool; I am both impressed and deeply envious.

Nice work Sith!

This thread continues to deliver every day, though I must say I am saddened that I won't be able to fight against Donut on the Xboxnets any more.
