Ultra Street Fighter IV

I don't think Rolento would be as immediately cuntish in SSFIV since players abusing normal pressure don't come off as favourably in this game. His roll-around overheads and escapes might be infuriating though. I like him as a character, I like his movement and I like his design. The stigma in SFxT prevented me from even bothering to pick him up, though.

I guess those screens from earlier showing Hugo and Alex must be fake, though? I'd have liked Alex a lot since he's pretty unique. I also would have liked Necro. He'd be much, much stronger in a game with no parries, haha.

I think Alex was a modded version of Guile on the PC version (had the same throw animation), so yeah, fake

Should be a trailer tomorrow night. When they said the fifth character would be revealed "later" do they mean in the trailer, or later in the year? A new name too, rather than the long winded SSFIV AE v2014 I guess? I bet they just call it Street Fighter IV Final or something. Or a precious metal/gem maybe.

Then they'll have to patch it anyway since Hugo is broken.

Bah, what does "improved" mean? I need to know if I'm switching from U1. :P

Not too fussed about the new characters as I didn't play them that much in Strekken. Then again, they might be a bit more likeable within AE's engine and ruleset. :)

I quite like that Elena will be included, the others I'm not fussed about. As for the fifth character being someone new to Street Fighter - pretty carefully chosen words there. I'm going with a Ganado.

Six new stages sounds really good to me as well. The new stages from Super made the Vanilla stages look sparse. And the extra modes; I really hope online training is one of them. And rematch option in two-man lobbies.

They're doing a retail version for $39.99 as well which comes with all the previously released costume DLC. I wonder if they'll have a Wii U version for me? :(

Trailer tomorrow before AE Finals probably means about 3am on Monday morning, right? Guh.

New stages is almost as exciting as new characters; the Super stages were indeed lovely and I'd love a few more to choose from.

So far those are exactly the changes I wanted. Cancellable cr. MK is something Ted Hawk should have had to begin with, as he currently has some nice footsie normals and little strings/links that end in absolutely nothing.

EX hazanshu breaking armour is the biggest change I wanted for Chun and easily the best thing I saw suggested on Capcom Unity. The extra health is a nice one too. EX fireball knocking down makes it a touch more useful and is another tool she can use to fight focus attacks. Someone at Capcom has recognised that random focus attacks are Chun's kryptonite and I salute them for it.

SSB was the main fix Dudley needed. The move's only purpose is to bait throws but there are these akward timings where you'll get grabbed out of it and it's really frustrating. This is one they should have fixed before now.

Honda getting his jumping medium punch back makes sense but it's pretty funny how indecisive they are about that move.

I would have liked less block stun on EX cannon strike for Cammy, but a general damage/stun nerf is definitely a good thing.

Fei's rekka range absolutely needed to be nerfed. A footsies character with a safe half screen poke that gives him the corner and a knockdown is just a touch too good.


P.S. Evo changing Marvel pools from 2/3 to 3/5 during pools is some bullshit. I understand why they did it and three out of five is certainly preferable, but if I'd lost a 2-1 set in the first round of pools I'd be most annoyed.

P.P.S. Yagatarasu is absolutely fantastic and everyone should play it. Most of the best bits of KOF and 3S rolled into one. It's been loads of fun figuring out the system, some combos, some resets and what the point of each character is this evening. Great game, I'm buying it when I get home.

In all seriousness, Strider is potentially broken in a largely hand-to-hand game. Any Darkstalker doesn't really make sense from a thematic point of view and that only leaves Rival Schools and Powerstone as appropriate non-SF franchises to pillage, with the possible exception of Haggar, who is probably out due to being too similar to other members of the cast.

Therefore, the new character is 100% OFFICIALLY CONFIRMED to be Skullomania.

I think someone from Rival Schools would be a good shout. Likely Batsu, since they used him in Tatsunoko Vs Capcom? Haggar makes sense, to round out the Final Fight crew. I think I'd like another completely new character though.

It'll probably be the guy from Dead Rising 3.

It'd be quite boring, but maybe Asura from Asura's wrath? They've already had the Ryu DLC for that game and while his appearance is a bit Akuma/Oni, he'd fit in the game even though I'd much prefer a slightly more... down-to-earth (or wacky in different ways) character.

Oh, and de-vortexing Ibuki is a beautiful thing. I totally agree that she'll be a really fun and interesting mix up character rather than a brainless one in the next edition. I didn't think they'd do anything so drastic to her since she's been this way since Super but I'm glad they have.

More changes keep coming in. Chun getting her anti-air df + short back and a general damage increase? The Capcom gods are smiling upon me.

More damage overrall and legit invincibility on EX soul spiral are sensible changes for Rose. EX spiral is still a big risk and requires three bars to make it safe, so having it not lose/trade with beefy normals seems fair to me.

Better hit stun on cr. jab for Vega; jab into jab and jab into strong no longer one frame links then I guess? Again, seems fair.

Still waiting on more Yang changes, but giving him his jumping MK back is the biggest one and they seem to have done it. Even better walk speed than he has now sounds nuts. Kyoku will be a monster with just those changes alone.

I have no idea what to think about Hawk's changes. They seem good initially but are they really going to help me against Blanka and his other bad match-ups?

They should have changed the input on condor spire to the DP motion.
