Ultra Street Fighter IV

Beware of Scotsmen bearing gifts.

Upon a promise of a free copy of kof xiii I furnished mr j.cakes with my address and waited patiently for the postman to arrive.

As we all know postmen are allergic to snow so there was no post over the weekend nor yesterday.

I arrived home today hopeful that the melting snow would mean the postmen would have emerged from their hibernation and I was not disappointed!

A package was waiting and I tore it open in anticipation of playing a game other than street fighter for at least some minutes...

Only this is what I found:

586C4E86-A390-45CB-8629-0A053DA0D929-253

A Michael Buble CD with what I can only assume is some foul scotch currency attached to it making it even less valuable than normal :(

Damn you Joffo, god damn you to hell!

Some of the costume packs are cheap discounted this week. Alt costumes for the four new AE characters are 160 points for the full set, and the two "complete" packs (how can there be two separate complete packs?) of alt costumes for SSF4 are 720 each. Don't be fooled, though, because to complete the set you'd still need the SF4 complete pack, which is 1000 points.

Of course I think the number of people who'd consider buying these but haven't already bought them is probably small. I might get the AE one just so I can watch my Oni get knocked to pieces physically as well as figuratively.

Sagats a total bugger to play, seems a really tough one to learn. So few ways to deal damage, and you have to be on point with his fireballs to keep the opposition away. Think the scores might have been different if you'd punished one or two of my mistakes harder. Think you had at least two f free ultras.

Sounds about right. Dicks for fingers though innit. Also, I don't know what I'm doing! I hate cr.hp not being an anti air. Aside from Makoto I think every other character I play has that button as an AA. Your Ryu was on point, sir. Lots of flashy flashy.

Yeah, anti airing with sagat is tough I think because he doesn't really have a catch-all anti air, you're got to do different things at different distances. Apparently kara uppercut is meant to be an anti-air, which can sod right off haha. Thank you for the nice words. I been practising a lot of ryu lately. amazing what a difference 20 minutes a day practicing FADC ultra can make. So nice to actually have it as a reliable punish instead of something I feel great about landing.

Guess who got a payrise this week and will be spending it on fictional clothes for fighting dolls?

By the way guys, I've literally had the "out of positive votes for the day" message reading this thread. Michael Buble, lobby tricks, Elf trolling, Gootices, dicks for fingers. Good work.

The most important thing about buying costumes for imaginary street fighting men is to completely ignore the heartbreaking similarity between this action and that of playing dress up with barbie dolls.

My wife has already pointed this out to me, I had some sort of argument but in the end I knew she was right.

Oh so women have the monopoly on clothes now do they?! If I want to buy a cheeky little number for my digital gentleman boxer that would make Freddy Mercury blush then I'll bloody damn well do it! When she's not watching.

The AI M. Bison from iPhone SF4 just countered a sonic boom that would have KOd him with his ultra, despite the fact that he was walking toward me at the time. What a cheating prick.

Maybe he's using a Hitbox controller :D

I played a fair amount of Blazblue CT but don't have either it or CS any more. I went through a foolish phase of selling games I probably wouldn't play again, and then a phase of replacing them with other games I probably won't play at all.

Fortunately they're patching a character called Squiggly into Skullgirls so I can just pick her instead of re-learning a radically altered Arakune in a new revision of Blazblue every six months.

I fear change.

Yeah, I didn't like Arakune in CS at all, after maining him in CT. Probably because he wasn't as utterly stupidly overpowered. I think that's the only time in my life I didn't main the most vanilla character in a fighting game because I fled to Ragna straight after that! And then I sort of left Ragna in CS2 since they didn't want him to have mid screen air combos any more, and that was pretty much the thing that drew me to him. That an the fact he has a dragon punch.

I'm totally going to play Narukami in Persona, the magnificent vanilla bastard.
