On topic, I am once again posting away from my dull, soulless office as I have been to a makaton workshop, the highlight of which was definitely signing along to a guy doing a 'rap' about goldilocks.

I spent the other night pinning all my XBLA fight mans games to the dashboard and it took ages. I didn't realise I had half of them. Garou! Shame the netcode for most of them is shite. I reckon I've got enough to open some kind of tourist attraction.

Man, does SF4 need more stuff? there's already 40 characters. That's 780 matchup combinations, excluding mirrrors. If anything, I'd like them to patch out the following:

Seth

Viper

Cammy

Yuang

Adon

Ibuki

Akuma

And to get rid of unblockables. And patch in a rematch button. And to make it so rufus is fatter and can't focus attack.

I want a quick rematch button.

In terms of balance I don't think anything's essential but stuff I wouldn't mind:

1) Faster meter gain for Ted Hawk.

2) Akuma's sweep to be much more punishable. If he's going to to fully murder you off a hard knockdown, it's pretty fucking obnoxious that he can brainlessly fish for said knockdown and only have certain specific punishes work against him. I'd lose the ability to super/ultra cancel it as well. I think you could slow down his walk speed too. With both of those nerfs he'd still be comfortably top 3 in the game.

3) I'd like to see them do something about Ibuki but I don't know what. She isn't dominating tournaments or anything so it'd not a pressing concern, I just think she's effective in such an utterly stupid way. I'm with Ultradavid on her being the dumbest character in the game.

4) Maybe something done to Fei Long. Jab into EX Tenshin, for instance. HIm having that on top of having literally everything else a character could possibly need is a bit of a joke.

5) Something about Cammy. Dunno what exactly though. The fact that you'd rather eat an obscene counter hit combo than take the grab is a bit stupid. Maybe make non-EX cannon strikes less safe on block, or give it a slightly worse hitbox so it still works after a knockdown but you can't use it to mindlessly jump in and have the opponent too scared to anti-air. As much as her up close game is absurdly strong, I find her ease of approach to be just as big a problem. She shouldn't have both, essentially.

I think Viper has been both sorted out in balance and figured out by players, and the only thing you could do about Seth at this point is nerf him into uselessness or remove him entirely. I think he's stupid but his low health makes him enough of a liability that he won't win everything so it's OK.

All you need to level up your Sagat is to master cr. LK - > split second pause - > overhead. Imp's unblockable Sagat tech. It works on me, it works when I do it to other people, it probably needs patching to be honest.

I do hope they allow Dan's taunts to do a little bit of damage. Other than that the quick rematch option is a must, as well as opting out of play in a lobby so people get their turn quicker if I just wanna spectate. Improved replay sharing facilities would be excellent (just in game messaging of them, I'm not expected youtube uploads or anything) and the ability to mess around in training mode together. I'd love some fun system direction stuff to mess around with too.

I'd imagine they'd be adding characters though, if it's the sort of thing they felt was worth mentioning at PAX. If it's just balance changes then it might as well have been a post on Capcom-Unity or something.

The way I see it is either you give akuma a stupidly punishable sweep, or you leave the recovery as it but increase it's startup to 7f so that he can't combo into it from basically anything but it's still a relatively safe poke at the right ranges. It's kind of stupid how easily he can start vortex and how safe it is for him to keep trying. One or the other needs changing.

Cammy just needs the frame data on some normals changing I think, so that perhaps she has to use meter to get her stupidly big damage frame traps instead of being able to do it just by pressing buttons in your face. I don't think a nerf to her stun would hurt too much either. The fact she stuns so much and deals so much damage at the same time is perhaps a bit silly.

New costumes, new stages.

Rematch option online.

Online training.

Lobby quick messages.

Ability to change music/ stage in training.

In game option to make it so that you have to hold start to pause (like Strekken).

Guiles U2 to be more easily comboable, and damage buff.

Divekicks in general to be more punishable/ AA able. Divekicks suck.

Apparently they are asking for balance feedback over on Capcom Unity. Not sure whether that makes new characters less likely?

That cropped up on SRK a few months ago, I and many others filled out an email for Capcom Unity.

Some stuff on the first batch of characters they've listed for feedback:

Bison - Fine. He has a ludicrous array of escape options but they mostly require meter and everyone knows how to deal with them at this point. Very solid character who has few if any glaring weaknesses but also doesn't massively excel at anything.

Balrog - Fine. I don't think there's much more you can do. He's such a straightforward character design that you'd have to fundamentally change him too much at this point.

Guile - Mostly fine. I do think Ultra 2 could do more damage on hit though. Flash kick FADC ultra 2 is such a bastard to do and is such a meter investment for him that it should at least be worth doing.

Ryu - When I see his face, there's not a thing that I would change. His AE2012 iteration is the best SFIV interation they've come up with so far and I don't see the need for any further tweaks at all.

E. Honda - Fine. By his nature in a roster this big and diverse he's going to have horror match ups and there's not a lot you can do about it.

Sakura - Mostly OK, but jump fierce and jump roundhouse could both do with hitbox nerfs. Her deadly up close game is fine if she has to be smart about getting in. She already has cr. MK into uppercut as an outstanding footsies tool so she doesn't need free jump ins on top of that.

Sagat - See Ryu. I think Sagat is a contender for the fairest character in the game on balance.

Ken - Ken is fine too. I wouldn't object massively to Ultra 2 getting some speed/hitbox buffs if they insist on doing something, but nothing jumps out at me aside from that. He's in the unfortunate position of not being as solid as Ryu or as offensively potent as Akuma if you want to play a shoto, but he's good at what he does and I don't think tweaking him any further would achieve anything.

Dudley - I don't know how you fix Dudley without changing his character design or putting parries in this game. He's a fish out of water in SFIV and I think they've done as much as they can for him. The rose doing a pixel of damage would be nice though.

Makoto - As with Dudley, I think they've done as much as you could realistically expect for her. She has some of the best offense in the game but getting in and escaping are problems. I don't see what buffs you could give her aside from stupid stuff like making her tsurugi break armour or other stuff that would make her too good. It feels like she can either be S-Tier or not-that-good with little in between.
