Ultra Street Fighter IV

I thought people mostly played Tekken characters. I don't, because I have no idea what I'm doing. I mostly fight against Heihachi/Jin/Kazuya online. I still have no idea what to do about Jin's stance change kick anti air. Except never jump. Any tips, gamesmasters?

Also, this seems like the best place to ask; is Sim City 5 any good? I'm basically thinking about getting it on the mac as the lady likes the look of it and I've not read up on it enough to find out if all the negativity is purely due to server issues and it's always online nature. I basically want to know if it is fun and accessable without posting in the relevant thread and somehow creating an arguement.

I want to play sim city. I'll wait for the inevitable "fixed" version though I think. The stat overlays and gentle plinky plonk music seem marvellous though. I have been playing mainly XCOM these past few weeks. And a little Starcraft. Basically I've turned into a sad space marine aficionado.

I've never played Starcraft. There was live, competitive Starcraft II at that SxSW thing; I had little idea what was going on but it was an interesting spectacle; I was trying to sus it out using what little knowledge of C&C: Red Alert I have. I did read a good article on competitive Starcraft in the last issue of Edge though, which makes it sound like they do work to make it accessable as a spectator sport for newcomers.

I don't really like watching sport though. I do like watching the ESPN 30 for 30 documentaries though.

Oooh; just put Darkstalkers on for the first time and the How To Play section explains Tiger Knee motions and that jump blocking backward is called "Chicken Guard". I've not played the game yet. Pretty well presented though!

Ah! And they have the Youtube stuff in the xbox version! I just authorised my account for it. I thought that was going to be PS3 only, like with 3rd Strike online. Reckon there's much chance the big 3rd Strike patch planned will implement that for xbox too? I heard they were just increasing the resolution of the uploads, but still dumping them in that big mess of a capcom youtube account.

Not played the game proper yet, just did some of the trials. Nice wee explainations and demonstrations before each, though I didn't find an easy way to rewatch the demo without going to the previous trial and back again though I may have overlooked something obvious. Did a few of Hsien Ko's trials and moved on once I failed the projectile air dash re jump combo a few times. Did Victor, or whatever Frankenstein's monster's electric buttocks is called, but was failing some link so I did all of Dimitri's instead. He seems like a Ryu type though so I am forced to learn someone different. The moves with down, forward, downforward motions made me realise just how much of Street Fighter is thoughtless muscle memory these days. Wildly frustrating.

Also, as an additional note, I have no idea if I was playing Darkstalkers 2 or 3.

I'm on a posting streak in honour of Alistarr. Where are y'all*? I want someone to type more nonsense about fighting games. Also, did anyone get Darkstalkers? I want to try out the youtube uploading stuff.

Also! I bought a Wii U. Should arrive on Tuesday. £265 for the 32gig black one from Asda with Nintendoland and NSMB U. Might get Tekken as well, just so I have a fighting game. I can't wait to download the hour long update, do a wee drawing on Miiverse and then play Street Fighter on the xbox for months.

*I heard someone use Y'all three times in one sentance in Texas. It was a liquor store offering samples of cognac and a lady at the door was checking folks' ages before they entered with the greeting "Hi! Do y'all have y'all's IDs on y'all?".

Is he the robot who bangs a drum and has wee birdies land on him as win poses? I thought those were cute; I watched him fight the green fish man on one of the replays. You can fast forward and rewing the replays. I like that. I don't know if you can frame-by-frame it. That'd be good.

As if I've seen his win poses! (But yeah, that's him, I like the birdy win pose, reminds me of Laputa I guess)

I dont think I have tried DS3 yet. One of the those capcom vids recommended starting with Night Warriors because of its slower pace. I still cant get Morrigan's Super out.

I'm bored of discs. I ordered a 32gig USB flash drive and I'm going to move all my xbox fighting games onto it when it arrives. If I move everything over, including my xbl profile, can I just plug the usb drive in to other folks xboxes and Street Fight?

It's beautiful. We played it a little at the last Heggfest courtesty of the wonderful Nate. It's a wild anime fighter a little like BlazBlue, but it has a nice easy Mash A combo for everyone so you can resort to that if you get a nice punish opportunity but aren't familiar enough with the game to try something more flash. Apparently the story mode is quite good for Persona fans too, though I'm not one of them so I can't say how dull it would be for normal men. I definitely found the BlazBlue story mode pretty dull.

There's also interesting mechanics like fatal counter hit moves and turing in mid air. Seems good to me.

I saw a bit of P4 Arena when I was in Japan last year, but the arcade machine was terrifying and seemed to house several different fighting games I had never heard of and I couldn't work it out at all, so I stuck with playing SSFIV. Oh and Puyo Puyo.

I had a go on another of those Pacman Battle Royale machines in four player in Texas. That's an excellent, excellent game. I hope they release that on XBLA. Does anywhere in London have it?

I also hovered behind a guy playing Marvel 2 in single player. He was fighting the boss and I've never even reached the boss, so I didn't dare fight him.
