Ultra Street Fighter IV

I am livid. My piss poor Q. Bee skills will surely suffer.

I would like to play KOFXIII badly with humans. Is the netcode any use to anyone?

I think before SFIV I'd probably spent more time on SNK fighters than Capcom ones and I'm still abysmal at all of them, mostly because I used to play them all like they were Streetfighter 2.

I always get disappointed with SNK fighters as soon as I do a Street Fighter motion and some weak excuse for a projectile burrows along the ground. Maybe I was playing the wrong mans. Have any characters learned to throw things through the air?

I don't think I tried XIII online at all, I just got stuck into the trials. I didn't manage a single character fully. Some of those Drive Cancels were mental to me; cancelling a special move the instant if connects into another special move. A lot of them had to be done inhumanly fast.

It's a brilliant game though and I'd love to have some basic competence but it'll probably be overshadowed by Darkstalkers for a while once I get back on the xbox.

And yes, there are loads of typical Street Fighter projectiles as well; but there are move ways around them too, with all the jumps and stuff.

There was an excellent walkthrough of KoFXIII with Mike Ross and Combofiend that actually made it sound like good fun, but I don't know if it's on the main channel, or Machinima, or Complexity. From what they were saying it sounds like it has more emphasis on offensive play (that is, attacking a lot, not cursing down the mic) which is always a good thing, and the comments they make about the balanced roster are very interesting...

EDIT: here -

Well I just played Streetfighter for a bit. Playing against complete strangers in endless battle, including a Gen player who was reliant on the worst gimmicks. He'd do all of Gen's unsafe but not always easy to punish stuff and then mash uppercut behind it. He won one game, then I beat him a few times, then I got bored because he refused to do anything else. Oh, and I played some guy called o00bigdog00o who was mashing all of the things all of the time. Mashing non EX legs with Chun is suicidal but he wouldn't stop doing it. Not the best session all told.

Also here's the Hawk poifick I mentioned earlier:

First knockdown he woke up with cr. lk and got tick grabbed. Second time he stayed put to try and block the cross up body splash, but I went for the MMS Native and did the elbow instead for the whiff into grab. This was catching everybody at Winter Brawl and it makes perfect sense why it does. Everyone expects the body splash, you set it up in the same way, delaying the jump like you're looking for perfect splash timing and spacing, and in the heat of the moment it sort of looks like the body splash too, and by the time you realise it isn't you've been grabbed.

Third time I tried to make it look like I was going to whiff and grab again, then did a delayed body splash instead for the dizzy. Look how deep that cross up is. Good old Tomas. Meterless Bison is fun.

I should mention that in a previous match I had condor dived a couple of back teleports, which is presumably why he didn't go for it. I would also like to point out that his Bison is generally pretty good and was slapping my Dudley about for a while before I got a handle on what he was doing.

Sith, I'll try and get on tomorrow or Thursday.

Preacher is good people, I had my first online fightmans experience with him (and Caz-Chan, and one-time thread bete noire MW Jimmy) playing DOA Ultimate on the old Xbox there. Salad days.

Hell yeah, I remember all the nonsense in DOA Ultimate! Good times, man!

I miss playing on a console :( must rectify this soon.

Rikuo.giffor me I think...

I've only mucked about with Darkstalkers before. What's the deal with including 2 and 3? Clearly the bigger the number the better the game (:massive wink:) so why bother including a dodgy old version with the later more refined one?

You must, but I send enough subtle hints over Twitter anyway... maybe I should wait for the next time SFIV's in a Steam sale :P

Excellent action figure there Joffo :D

I bought Tekken Tag 2 recently. I played it last night and found even the customisation menus confusing. I've got DOA5 too now thanks to PS+. Someone tell me how to play these games in one paragraph that will make me the best player in the world England Twickenham my street my house.

It's probably more like choosing Adon and being a dick. Or Elena.

I don't really know how to play TTT2. Or Tekken at all. I have it though. I got most of the achievements through some pointless grinding. The wee tutorial mode was fun and had Street Fighter references.
