Ultra Street Fighter IV

That KoFXIII moment that Yasawas mentioned up there is just spectacular. It's good from the off, but when Kyo appears it's just extra-ordinary. Such a great game to watch; I'll maybe get stuck into more of that later tomorrow if I get the time.

Back on topic; I had Smash Burger today. I went for the classic smash on their egg bun and I really enjoyed it. Very juicy and flavoursome burger with a side of rosemary seasoned fries and some fried pickles. I'll be going back to try the sweet potato fries and the chicken burger with cucumber and goat's cheese. The Whataburger A1 Thick n Hearty is still my local burger of choice, though I did notice (albeit too late) A1 Steak Sauce is at Smash Burger as a standard condiment, so there's potential.

Nights too. Christ, so many games at bargain prices.

Nights is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!

Got it before Christmas and completed every level in order to play Christmas Nights for Christmas!

Ah, Sega Saturn Magazine; how I loved you.

Played New Years Nights too.

Looking forward to April Fools Nights.

I just bought Street Fighter. Again.

Mostly so that it shows up as SUPER STREET FIGHTER IV: ARCADE EDITION on my profile when I'm playing it, all shouty and that. I'll probably just boot the SSFIV disc from the dash anyway, because it's still easier and faster than trying to find your DD games. :(

I got KOFXIII and GRiD too. I might try racing some mans tonight.

Blog incoming!!

So, inspired by JLM and Alistair's write ups from the Yorkshire Fighting Games Club I have been taken it upon myself to see if there's any similar scene for the North East. And, from my initial investigations exclusively through Facebook it appears there's not. :( I know there used to be a few meet ups where Desk used to attend but I have been in contact with him and it appears that that scene may have dwindled somewhat, shame.

Anyway, despite this massive setback I have decided to rectify this by initially setting up a Facebook Group of my own to see if there are any Fighting Mans Games lovers up in the wild wild wilds of the "toon" and surrounding areas (Gateshead and Sunderland). I have again, stolen taken inspiration from the YFGC and set up the NEFGC (North East Fighting Games Community, see the slight difference?), I have messaged the admin of the YFGC to make sure he's not super hot pissed that I have ripped him off and to maybe get a few tips off of him. So far I have had no reply. Boo.

So, I have a group with one member (officially I am the best player in the NEFGC). Next steps are to get a few flyers created/printed out and pop them around town at the weekend and see what happens (I'm thinking Uni's, local comic shops, that kind of thing). I kind of just want to see if there are any local players at the moment and then maybe I'll set up some kind of casuals thingy.

Oh and if anyone is from the North East and likes a bit of a fight (get yourself down the Bigg Market, ahaha!) let me know and I'll post up a link.

Naturally I'll keep you posted (cue tumbleweed storm).

edit: is this a ridiculous thing for a 36 year old to be doing? I can't help but feel like I'd look like some kind of predatory groomer, trying to set up a "Community" around a kids game. Ah well.

Hit the guide button, go left, go down to 'recent'. Pow! Street Fighter.

I've bought a ton of stuff in this ridiculous sale. Wonder how much of it I'll play.

Or pin them to the front page? (Dammit Nate.)

I have bought several games in this sale. I already own them all on disc. I havent played them either.

Don't pins take one million years to load?

Good work on the FGC there, Geldra. I used to think I'd love to take part in tournaments, but I am at my lowest ebb ever in terms of confidence in my street fighting skills and very much doubt I would these days :(

I think you can only have 5 pins max.

Thanks re FGC, I'm hoping that in order to organise this shit you don't have to actually be any good at this stuff right? I mean, I bet the fat fucks who run the FA can't play footy for shit. Right guys?

Yay, I'm only about 170 miles from Yorkshire. It's a bit hard getting hyped for a North East community when you're in the South West :(

Its a local group for local people. :blah: (but if we get something set up and you're in the area, you'd be more than welcome, obvs)

Qaz, sounds like you need to set up your own branch of the FGC.

In other news my sister has done us proud by dressing up my brand spanking new nephew as Cody.

"You're making me sleepy ..."

Doesn't everything?

'Recent' from the guide is pretty much the only thing that doesn't on my box.

But I like to mash A like a proper scrub when I turn my 360 on, as it usually takes about 5 minutes to get to the dash and boot the game in my drive.

I will investigate these not-so-new fangled pins and things, thanks.

Congrats on the nephew :D

Sith, are you/infexious/Hutch coming to Leeds for the tournament on the 17th then? RMZ and a few others who didn't go last time are expected to be there so it should be a decent event.

Geldra i salute you. I think most decent sized towns and cities shoulld be able to accomodate at least a small fighting game scene. You don't necessarily need a Gamerbase or an arcade either; if people can bring some extra set ups you can make a venue out of anywhere that will have you. Sunday Face Off is held in a Hungarian café/bar that gets very little passing trade on a Sunday afternoon, so the venue fee and all the players buying food and drinks works out nicely for them. I''m sure there are odd spots all over the place where a similar arrangement could be worked out.

I'd advise posting something in the regional matchmaking forums on SRK. Also whenever NeoEmpire rises from the ashes they have regional matchmaking discussion there as well.

Also I found this site today: http://fightinggamesuk.co.uk

If you do get a few folks together you may want to submit your group to their Local Groups section.

Thanks for the tips JLM. I was looking ahead at maybe working out where we could host any casual events.

I was hoping to open up a bit of a discussion with the admin of the Leeds group for tips and also to maybe get some kind of crossover meet ups going in future (that is if more than just me and my cat (I dont have a cat) join the group) as Leeds is fairly close. Anyhow, its early days and I hope I havent missed the boat by about 3 years.

I don't think you can miss the boat when you're building the boat, sir; sterling work. :)

I just had The Radical Lord get me SSFIV AE from GoD, as well as KoFXIII, even though I have both on disc. Convenience Fighter. Surprisingly good sales for xbox live; I wonder if they're gonna get more competitive in future with that sort of stuff.

Well gonna spend next few days playing my new games. Having break from SF for few days. Lost enthusiasm and feel dejected and embarrassed since weekend. Watched my matches on stream and even my Rufus match wasn't as good as I remember.

Sigh.

L4D2 for me tonight.

Bah the 17th? You said the next tournament was on the 24th! I'm in Germany on the 17th. But we're definitely going to come down soon.

Imp, 2PM is perfect.
