Well I'm "that" sort of a guy. I'm going to be so outrageously middle class in about 10 years, it'll be brilliant.

I'm outrageously middle class enough that I actually own a Kwak glass, even. I occasionally use it to drink Ribena. Also I'm pretty sure the biathlon was norwegian military training or something like that, since they'd have to be able to ski and shoot. I always loved that the modern pentathlon was kind of an equivalent, in that it was thought that the idea soldier should be able to run, swim, ride a horse, shoot and fence.

I hope your liver de-fattens!

Thanks!

I have a Kwak glass too. It was a best man present.

I am I think horribly middle class despite coming from an unquestionably working class family.

Next week I will be drinking for the whole weekend while my friend shows me around Leeds. He has asked me if I want to go on a 6 mile walk around some Dales or something. Do I look like a wandering hobo?

I'll probably go on the walk.

I've done ski on Edinburgh's artifical slope when I was a kid. All the middle class kids at school went on trips to exotic places like Val d'Isere while I stayed at home and swept chimneys. Some of them fell into a crevasse and died which made them seem less lucky than I'd originally thought. I think I'd be a brilliant ski person given the chance. You've made me think of Midwinter with all the talk of shooting and ski-ing.

I've never heard of Kwak.

Happy chickenpoxday plopboy!

Also, just to add to the middle classness, I'm staying in a chalet where all my meals will be cooked for me and presumably I'll be waited on hand and foot by gap-year ski season nubiles with names like Trixie or Lulu. Also the chalet has unlimited wine, a claim which I aim to test thoroughly.

Edinburgh's artificial slope, Hillend, is outdoors.

'Hillend thumb' is a mythical medical condition caused when your thumb gets caught in the mesh and dislocated. I remember bricking myself first time I went to the top. Snow would be much more welcoming. I have done ski there in the snow.

I haven't played Street Fighter since that fateful night in Glasgow with Joffo, Radlord and Big Gez. I want to will play tonight.

Here. Is the Eurogamer Expo any good? Noticed I can get 1/2 price tickets from being with Virgin Media and for the first time ever I thought about going. Would let me catch up with folk in London and be a geek at the same time. I'm sure you all get free entry and laugh at people who have to pay but is it worth travelling 500 miles to go for the weekend. This years' one might be more exciting than normal what with new consoles and that.

All the Rez talk has made me want to get a surround setup again, something I keep putting off all the time. I had a hand-me-down 5.1 from someone but half of the cables were missing and the speakers were a bit cumbersome, so I might look into a modest Logitech arrangement or something.

Also, I'll hopefully be around for weekend fights if any friendly lobbies are happening. :)

Jiro, what did you think of "Radlord's" bizarre patter and hideously malformed, mole-ridden face? He's a terror through and through isn't he.

"Radlord" was a delight. Meeting him put to rest my long held belief that he was a fiction, some kind of alter ego of the esteemed Mr. Joffocakes. He spoke very fondly of you.

That's not strictly true; he also makes enemies off the internet. Poor Radlord. Peter Alliss once slept in Radlord's bed, Golf Chat fans.

I went to a mexican market in San Antonio yesterday and some kid spotted my Day of the Dead Mario shirt and played Saria's Song on a xylophone for about half an hour. That was nice. No Street Passes or Street Fighter so far.

I really want this as a shirt:

Bit late here, but best of luck with your exciting future endeavours Mr. Heggmond and thanks for being the greatest of hosts two years in a row.

I watched all of Winter Brawl 7 and it was outstandingly good. I love the New York AE scene at the moment, and when you add in PR Rog Long, Justin and Snake Eyes you get quite the stacked bracket. Loads of great matches I wanted to see, like Snake Eyes taking on Sanford and Zeus, Sanford and Dieminion fighting for the millionth time and of course the classic Justin vs Sanford. The latter in particular in AE top 8 was incredible and should be watched by everybody. I say this every time I watch him play in a tournament, but I do wish Sanford would get a real sponsor and start travelling full time as he is not only one of the top ten players in the U.S. but also one of the most exciting to watch both because of his completely unique Sagat playstyle and because he wears his emotions on his sleeve.

AE top 8 was all great, from Dieminion and Sanford putting on a clinic to PR Long playing the most aggressive Fei Long imagineable.

If you only have time to watch one set though, please do watch Justin vs Sanford, starting at 1:12 here:

Marvel turned out some great stuff as well of course. It doesn't get much better than East Coast Marvel with Chris Matrix on commentary. The Moons vs Demon Hyo FT10 was tremendous and the top 8 was full of fun stuff. Yipes vs Justin was probably the highlight on that side. Justin vs Yipes in Marvel and Justin vs Sanford in any game are such classic East Coast battles and they very rarely disappoint.

Team tournament on day 1 was thoroughly entertaining too, as was Fanatiq any time he's on commentary. I don't think there's been a stream yet where Fanatiq hasn't said something that's made me laugh out loud. On this occasion it was his breakfast cereal tier list that did it. Arturo, SkiSonic and Yipes all provided great commentary throughout the event too.

Oh, and Dieminion vs Ricky Ortiz in Strekken was really good as well.

Speaking of tier lists, here's ChrisG's updated UMVC3 tiers:

Heheh.

Lastly, I have one more new Dudley reset, plus another one that only Alistarr has seen so far. Fun times ahead. Oh, and I have a new Sakura thing that is absolute bullshit. Can't wait to land that one.

EDIT: Wow, I wish I hadn't said "Lastly" there. Backed myself into a right nasty little verbal corner with that one. Damn.

Anyway, Lastlier: Alistarr, I have decided on what to do with my Marvel team. So far all I've done is name Dormammu's replacement and picked out a few useful tutorial videos and other resources. Tomorrow I will work on Cap combos and set ups using the new assist said replacement provides, then after that I will start work on actually using the new individual. I will keep the new addition shrouded in mystery until I have at least a 1% knowledge of what to do, but I will at least reassure you that it isn't Vergil because I am not that guy.

And LASTLIEST: SITH! The next SFO tournament in Leeds has been moved forward to March 17th as i48 is on the 24th weekend and they don't want to clash.

This morning I played a couple of ranked games because I told JLM I would do so to get used to that "every round matters" mentality and I didn't have much fun, but I did needlessly perfect a beginner Fuerte and totally steal a win from a reasonable Hawk by doing raw ultra on his wakeup. Then I tried to get some endless games and the only dude I could find was fully committed to uppercutting during every combo I tried. divekick short short nothing was employed heavily and profitably but no learning took place :-(

It's not Dan Té, is it? If it's Magneto I will squeak with delight and then distress.

I still think you should go with Squiggly or whatever. Shuma.

Speaking of which, Skullgirls is looking like it's going to get a Squiggly of its own at some point in the future, so if anyone wants to give that game another shot with a fellow novice then let me know.
