Ultra Street Fighter IV

JLM

That was pretty cool Plop.

Coincidently, I was just coming on to ask if anybody plays a fair Elf, as there is definitely gonna be one at tourney.

Am doing MUCH better against him now (he plays 'Geif and Elf (and Hakan) and I can beat his Geif. He now always counter picks Elf against me.) but still need a lot of practice. One of Guiles hardest matchups.

I would also like some serious practice against Vega, Dudley, Zangief, T.Hawk and Rufus if anyone would be prepared to grind out some sets with me? All these characters are definitely at the Tourney.

Some Oni practice wouldn't go amiss either.

Both El Fuerte and Gief are very vulnerable to being thrown on their wakeup. That's my favourite thing about fighting them.

I play a decent Rufus, as does Alistarr. JLM's Dudley is extraordinary and Donut's is dangerous also. Sith's T Hawk and the rare pokemon Redbull Ninja's Vega complete the set!

Throw Zangief on wakeup? Really? I've tried before and usually end up eating his 3frame throw invulnerable SPD.

Hitting the lab with that one when I get in.

Cheers guys, I'll definitely take you all up on that. Gonna hit the lab for hour when I get in, then will be online for couple hours from 4ish. Also gonna be around after 11pm tonight, and for rest of week

Let's get some serious SF in!

My Mic port still not working, despite getting replacement PCB sent from the wonderful Gremlin Solutions (also sent replacement cable door too, all for free) so if there long delay in readying or choosing character I may be messaging you.

This is home to some wonderful people. :)

Yeah, throwing Gief's wakeup works surpisingly well. Also when they attempts their post SPD 50/50 of lp.green hand into SPD or EX Green Hand nonsense to catch your backdash you can throw the EX Green Hand startup quite easily. throws comfortably beat Lariat startup too. Wakeup Ultra 1 will still get you.

I'm pretty sure that normal spd isn't throw invulnerable. Also it's 2f startup. The only throw invincible command throw I can think of is abel's normal tornado throw, which I suppose they had to give him because otherwise stepkick just wouldn't work. It could be that you're very slightly mistiming the throw on wakeup. Miss it by 2 frames and you eat an spd if they be a-mashin'. I get jabbed enough when attempting to throw people on wakeup that know I don't always perfectly time it.

Frame data fighter!

Last time I played strekken against this one guy, I missed a few throws because I forgot about the awful throw range in that otherwise beautiful, beautiful game. My opponent's response to this was to run to the other side of the screen and mash throw as a taunt. I thought it was quite funny.

The cunt.

Looked it up, yep, you're right.

I must be screwing the timing.

Oh yeah, the taunt with the big, curvy leg is the funniest so I'd want to use that. It's such a clever trick; the Adon fireball avoiding taunt is good, but this one is an excellent and relatively practical mixup. Are there many other practical uses of taunts? I think Sakura might have one that ducks fireballs?

EDIT: I can't see what's on the other side of that link you posted, by the way; stupid work firewall.

I think it's the reset you were talking about.

Ultra 1. Dash back x 2. EX fireball. Low IAT. Yoga tower.

Opponent crosses through Dhalsim, you can then follow up with a combo.

Look at this foul dhalsim "technology"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ieuWASxUB0g

I do love using words like "lab" and "technology" and "data" to try and somehow justify and legitimise the fact that I spend so very much of my time doing something for which there can, ultimately, be not legitimate justification. Because it's an imaginary fighting man simulator. For children.

Although I suppose you could argue that absurdism posits that there is no absolute meaning to life or existance, which there allows each man to create his own meaning and pursue it accordingly, and I guess you could argue that a man could find meaning in beating other men at a computer fighting videogame. But frankly that would take a ludicrous amount of time and effort which would otherwise be devoted to playing street fighter.

It's a shame that in sports like boxing, taekwondo, kick-boxing and so on the combatants don't shout out the names of their moves before they unleash them.

"Right hook! Uppercut!"

EDIT: Actually, I think all sports would benefit from this.

"Javelin throw!"

"Run fast!"

"Corner kick!"

Haha, I actually kind of do. Every time I do a punch or a kick or whatever I kind of go "OOSH" in a thoroughly intimidating manner. Also whenever I'm taking a hit. It kind of helps to regulate the breating and stops you from tensing up too much. And it's fun. The volume also depends on the button you pressed when inputting the command for my kick.
